Commish, thank you for the tremendous effort that went into creating this list and providing the bios of 100 ballplayers. Some might quibble over the ranking of some players, and of course many will contest your final 10 or even 20 players, but, hey!, that's the joy of lists. We are all in your debt for this undertaking.
Thanks to one of the best Titan fans.

I realize how hard it is to compare stats, especially with guys from the past whom none of us saw play. From those "left out" I like these guys as replacements for some of those who made it: 1) Thomas Kennedy. HIs only mistake was not having the grades to come to U-D straight out of high school. A player. Did everything out there that was needed to be done, and a scoring machine. 2) Michael Aaron. Although I will never forget what he did, he was an undersized warrior who made us better during key transitional years as Byrdsong was turning the Program around. Here's what he did, though: he transferred to Wayne State (the real WSU) for his senior season (no sitout year required because he went Div II). It was Perry's first year, and his first game coaching the Titans at Cobo was against WSU, not an Exhibition Game, but our actual Season Opening Game. Aaron dominated and they beat us. The Titans clearly had not yet bought into Watson's system. After the game, Aaron jumped on the Scorer's Table and started celebrating big-time. 3) Greg Grant. 5 years of improvement. Came in skinny and unprepared for this level. Dealt with a health issue but persevered. Closed out his career that same year we lost to Wayne by celebrating a League Championship (we couldn't go to the NCAAs but I think you all know why). Lemme know if you need to hear that story again. 4) Allan Renner-Thomas. Teamed with Grant to create the dynamic double tower team that anchored the back line in that first Watson season. The Grant/Renner-Thomas duo reminds me of the Eli/Lemarcus duo. There's something to be said about Twin Towers. Bring on Datcher!
As you can see, I will take a Winner/Championship History as a tie-breaker every time. Winning is what matters after all the numbers are in the Books. I'm tempted to say that Thomas Kennedy would have been first out, but I studiously avoided doing anything like that with the guys I didn't rank, or it would just be the Top 101, right? As I mentioned in an earlier post, there's not a lot to separate guys like Kennedy, Aaron, Leon Derricks, Shawn Williams, Doug Anderson, Lamarcus Lowe, and Renner-Thomas (also basically a two-year guy, playing just 2 games his first year after transferring in). They were a bit different as players, but basically all forwards, all 2-year guys (except Aaron, who played three seasons with UD but was limited to 9 games in his sophomore year), all played within a 20 year period under the same rules (3 point shot, shot-clock in place), after the best years of Titan hoops but when the Titans were on whole still something of a regional player and in one of the better mid-major conferences. Derricks and Anderson won the most of that group. Greg Grant got a lot of rebounds and blocks and probably should have made at least the 1st 10 out list, but I'm pretty comfy with him outside the top 100. I'd definitely rate him above Lowe and Renner-Thomas, if only for playing 4 Titan seasons, three as a major part of the rotation. The rub is, to include someone, you have to take someone out.

Just thought I'd bump this thread up, in case someone is looking for something to do while we wait for news on the Titans' schdule, waivers, etc.

It will be interesting to see where you insert Antoine Davis when his Titan career is finished. I’m guessing that will be at the end of this season. I would say chances of AD coming back for a fifth year are 1%.

Sure AD has scored the most points but the wins and accolades and all around games of the other guys off sets that, and honestly I just truly loved watching Willie develop over the years into the epitome of senior leader. He was just a stud and all around beast on the court.

Bill Ebben got mentioned on another thread. Says a lot about the depth of the Titans basketball history that a player who averaged 27 points per game, made the All American team, and logged some NBA time, kind of gets overlooked in discussions about Titan greats. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/bill-ebben-1.html
