Is Waterman going to be back? I'd guess that since he's cleared Covid protocols, the answer is yes. Will there be limits on his playing time due to conditioning/ as he gets back into shape, I'd think so

I expected Robert Morris to be better than they are. Some of their transfers really backfired.

Robert Morris Preview
When: Wednesday, February 9, 7:00 p.m. Where: UPMC Events Center, Campus of RMU, Moon Twnshp., PA TV: ESPN+ Radio: WLQV 92.7 FM, 1570 AM
The Horizon hasn't been kind to the Robert Morris University Colonials, who are just 7-22 in conference play since joining the league. Three of those wins have come in the last 12 days, however, and the Colonials are 4-3 over their last 7 games. The team has shed some disappointing transfers, and finally seems to be coming together and playing their best ball in a long time, so this could be a real battle for the Titans.
RMU's best player is Khaliel Spear, a 6-7, 220 lb. senior forward who has emerged as one of the best players in the conference. He's averaging 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds for the year, For these last 4 games, he's pushed that up to 18.5 points and 10.3 rebounds. Over the last 10 games he's averaged 16.7 and 8.4. I really like Spear--he finishes at the rim (57% on two-point shots), rebounds, plays good "d."
The other consistent on this year's team has been 6-3 sophomore guard Enoch Cheeks, whom I had thought, in the preseason, would be relegated to the end of the bench this year by transfer guards Ferron Flavors, Rashid Dunn, Mattia Acunzo, Jerrod Williams, and Michael Green. The first three have long since left the team, however, while Cheeks has started every game and averaged over 30 minutes per game. Cheeks is averaging 9.1 points, but has scored in double figures more often than not, and shot a deadly 43% from three.
Meanwhile, the other two transfers--Williams and Green--should also both start on Wednesday. Green came to RMU from Bryant, where he averaged 16 points last season. He has started the last 10 games, and over the last 9 games has averaged nearly 15 points per game while shooting 42% from three. Williams, who moved into the starting lineup 6 games ago, was a double-figure scorer last year at Tennessee-Martin, but hasn't been looked to for scoring from RMU, and is averaging just 6.3 points since entering the starting lineup. His three-point shooting is off from 37% last year to just 23% this year. Still, the Colonials have played better with him as a starter.
The fifth starter should be juco transfer Matt Mayers, an athletic, 6-8 forward who was a first team juco D-1 All-American last year. Mayers hasn't scored like expected (he averaged 18 points per game last year), but he's a good finisher and a tenacious rebounder.
The first two off the bench should be sophomore guard Kam Farris and junior forward Justin Winston. Farris was a highly touted recruit for RMU two years ago, but his development has been slowed by various injuries that got him off to a slow start a year ago and have caused him to miss 8 games this season. He missed the last half of January and struggled in two games since his return, scoring a total of just 3 points on 1-7 shooting in last weekend's games against IUPUI and UIC. But there's no reason to think that will last--he's averaged 9.7 ppg for the year and is another excellent three-point shooter, with a career percentage of nearly 45%. Winston, meanwhile, was a stud recruit for St. Bonaventure, but after a solid freshman year (8.7 ppg), he was injured last year, started slow, and transferred to RMU in January after playing in just two games. He started the first 9 games this season, but was inconsistent and lost his spot to Mayers. He's capable, though--he had 19 points last weekend at UIC.
The other guy we're likely to see a lot of is 6-11 Brandon Stone, a transfer from La Salle. After a slow start, Stone appeared to be hitting his stride in late January, scoring 31 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in a three game stretch, but then he missed last week-end's UIC game with an undisclosed ailment, and played just 5 minutes against IUPUI. Further down the bench are Chase Cook, a 5-10 sophomore, and Tristian Jeffries, a 6-6 freshman wing.
Historically, Coach Andy Toole's teams have been marked by a tough, man-to-man defense, but after giving up an average of over 80 points through the first 7 games this year, RMU switched to playing mainly zone. When the Colonials go back to man-to-man, they emphasize a "no middle" approach, aggressively working to push their opponents towards the sidelines. While the defense has improved since the start of the season, RMU's opponents have shot 37% from three this year, and that has to bode well for a three-point shooting team like the Titans.
On offense, RMU has a balanced attack, with 6 players averaging between 7 and 14 points. While RMU has some very good three point shooters--Farris, Cheeks, Green--they don't take many threes, and get just 26.7% of their points from threes (by contrast, the Titans--who have one of the highest rates in the nation--get almost 43% of our points from three). Like Detroit, Robert Morris is an excellent free throw shooting team (18th nationally--Detroit is 20th), but also like Detroit, they don't get to the line much (they rank 277th nationally, the Titans a dismal 344th).
This is a better RMU team than indicated by either their 6-17 overall mark, or 4-10 Horizon record, and a much better team than we would have faced in early January, but for the Covid cancellation. That said, I think the Titans should and will win this game unless we simply have a really cold shooting night.
The Commish will be at this game at the UPMC Center. Anyone else planning to be there?
Robert Morris Starters G: #3 Michael Green, 5-11 Jr. (11.1 ppg, 2.9 apg, 33.0% 3Pt) G: #5 Enoch Cheeks, 6-3 Soph. (9.1 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 2.3 apg, 43.1% 3Pt) G: #11 Jaron Williams, 6-6 Sr. (7.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 23.1% 3Pt) F: #21 Matt Mayers, 6-8 Jr. (5.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg) F: #2 Kahliel Spear, 6-7 Sr. (13.8 ppg, 7.7 rpg)

Of course we are playing them right when they are in the middle of a hot streak. Circumstances aren't in the Titans favor this season.

Akec to the lockeroom with a leg injury. Hopefully nothing serious...
EDIT: he's now back on the bench, sitting at the far end

Attendance looks less than at Calihan Hall Commish is here. This place makes a lot of noise even with small crowd. RMU HAS 25 cheerleaders, so they make some noise.

McAdoo ejected for the foot to the Bob Morris's players "junk" - that's the word used by the official and picked up by the broadcast

If true, no McAdoo or Akec would really hurt
