Add former Michigan assistant coach Luke Yaklich to the positive additions for Shaka Smart and Texas for the 2019-20 season.
@jonrothstein Sources: Texas' Shaka Smart is expected to hire former Michigan assistant Luke Yaklich as an assistant coach. Was the Wolverines' defensive coordinator over the past few seasons.

Kansas got mixed news today regarding the upcoming season. Guards Quentin Grimes and Devon Dotson both decided to withdraw from the draft and return to school. Grimes, however, has decided to transfer. Both are rising sophomores. Dotson averaged 12 ppg last season and Grimes averaged 8.
If you hook up Bill Self to a lie detector and asked him who he wanted to come back and who he wanted to transfer, he would have admitted he wanted things to go the way they did.

Kansas had a relatively down year this past season, failing to win the Big 12 for the first time after 14 straight years. They have rebounded nicely this offseason, with some good news on players returning, becoming eligible, and landing a big transfer in grad transfer Isaiah Moss from Iowa. Could be a good bounce back year for the Jayhawks.

Couple of Big 12 programs got commitments for point guards for the class of 2020 this week.
LJ Cryer of Katy, Texas committed to Baylor. Cryer is a four star guard ranked #41 in the country by ESPN.
Kansas State received a commitment from Indianapolis native Nijel Pack. Pack is considered a three star guard that KSU managed to get away from Butler.

Interesting article on TCU's Desmond Bane, who talks about putting his name in the draft, deciding to return to the Horned Frogs, and his path from mid major recruit to high major star. Bane is the rare example of a player who was recruited by mid majors until late in the process, took the last minute high major offer, and had it work out for him. www.pressboxdfw.com/the-coach-stayed-and-so-did-tcus-desmond-bane/

Really have to give Scott Drew a lot of credit for his sustained high performance at Baylor. That program was a mess when he took over, and I'm sure it isn't easy getting players to Waco, but he keeps rolling along. Today he got a verbal commitment from top 50 2020 recruit and Minnesota native Dain Dainja. The 6-9 power forward had multiple majors from every high major conference. n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2020/dain-dainja-206190

Kansas landed an early commitment for the class of 2022 as Tre White committed to the Jay Hawks. We'll see if it sticks; White did not visit campus before committing, but said that KU was the first school to offer him and had been recruiting him hard. He stated that he wanted to get his recruitment out of the way and just keep working on making his game better over the next few years. 247sports.com/Player/Tre-White-46059200/
