I got a good look at Milwaukee last night in their game against Memphis. Interesting match up between two teams with new coaches, but that was about the only thing they had in common. Lavell Jordan is a first time coach and Tubby Smith is a legend, but Milwauekee did a good job. They jumped out to the lead at 7-0 before Memphis started hitting. After falling behind by 18 early in the second half, the Panthers fought back to cut it to seven before Memphis pulled away to win by 14. Jordan is running an offense with some of the elements of the Beilien offense from Michigan. Milwaukee brings back no starters from last year's team, but they played hard and did a good job behind the shooting of Cody Wichmann. The Panthers might be better than some think. mkepanthers.com/news/2016/11/16/mens-basketball-tigers-hold-off-milwaukee-surge-to-claim-68-54-win.aspx?path=mbball

Congrats to Milwaukee on closing a difficult season on a high note and making it to the HL conference finals before falling to Northern Kentucky. Not bad for the last place team during the conference regular season. I'm wondering if Coach Jordan will be interested in former Marquette guard Duane Hill, who announced he is leaving the Golden Eagles. (I typed Warriors first.) Hill is a Milwaukee native and a red-shirt junior. He reportedly will graduate and have immediate eligibility. Hill only scored 4.8 points per game for Marquette this year, but averaged 11.6 and 11.9 his previous two seasons. Seems like a good fit, unless Hill is thinking high major. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/66171/duane-wilson

Milwaukee gets a kid from Michigan as Dylan Alderson from Clarkson commits to the Panthers. Alderson scored 27 points in Clarkson's semifinal win today. Hearing some talk about how much he has improved from last year to this year, and how Coach Jordan got a steal for Milwaukee.

Milwaukee seems to have something good going on in recruiting the class of 2018. After landing Shae Mitchell (above) earlier, they landed a verbal commitment from Tyronn Mosley on Sunday. Mosley is a 6-5 guard from Chicago who had offers from Duquesne (glad someone from the HL is beating out Duquesne for recruits), Bradley, and DePaul. He had interest from several high majors and took an unofficial visit to Michigan. At one point last year, Mosley was rated a four star recruit by Scout and was ranked the number 83 player in the nation. Rivals currently lists him as a three star recruit. All in all, a very good commitment for Milwuakee if they hold on to him. Kudos to the coaching staff.
