Tonight we have one of the best championship game match-ups in years, but everyone is talking about Brad's Dad getting hogtied with Tyson chicken fingers.

Kentucky fans and boosters were quite vocal and demonstrative about their disdain for Coach Cal, but it still seemed like he was going to be back in Lexington next season. However, the surprising move of Andy Enfield from USC to SMU put things in motion. USC hired Coach Musselman away from Arkansas to lead the Men of Troy, leaving Arkansas in need of a head coach. The big Arkansas booster, the Tyson chicken magnate, looked to the Razorbacks SEC rival and made Coach Cal an offer he couldn't refuse. Actually, he probably could have refused it if he didn't feel like he was on the hot seat at UK. Kentucky, probably a bit caught off guard, still pursued Danny Hurley, Billy Dononvan, and Scott Drew with confidence. All three passed on the opportunity. Now it appears that UK is going to hire Mark Pope of BYU to take Cal's place. Pope's done a good job at BYU and is a former Kentucky player. Still, you have to wonder if the Kentucky community would have been so eager to toss Coach Cal if they knew Pope would be the replacement. On social media, some loud voices in the UK community have already begun an "It's not too late to NOT hire Pope" campaign. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/39924986/mark-pope-nearing-5-year-deal-kentucky-head-coach

Will be interesting to see if Mark Pope offers Noah Waterman a spot on the Kentucky roster. To be clear, I’m not suggesting that Waterman is a starting player for any Kentucky team and that the fan base would consider him a good get. But Waterman is one of the few non LDS players at BYU. He’s old and has experience. Maybe he’s worth a scholarship at UK. I have to believe that even a guy like that would get decent NIL money from the UK collective and donors.

Just saw today that Chicago State head coach Gerald Gillion had resigned from Chicago State earlier this month to take the position of Associate Head Coach at Long Island University. I imagine that is a nice bump up in pay for him.
The Cougars promoted CSU assistant Scott Pinelli to replace Gillion.

You’re hitting close to home, UP.

You’re hitting close to home, UP. Just my opinion. Upstate is okay, but if you gave me $20,000 to go there for 3 days I would pass! Just different strokes for different folks but I’m happy I’m not one of them.
