The Vikings with what look to be a couple of good pick ups the past two days. Torrey Patton averaged 15 and 8 at a good JUCO program. Not much of an outside shooter based on his 3 point percentage (27%), but a guard grabbing 8 boards per game is impressive and his overall percentage from the floor of 51% is a plus. Abou Ousmane is 6-9 and had some good mid major offers. Good to get a kid like that out of high school, especially late like this.

Cleveland State now picks up Jalen Williams, a 6'8" 245 lbs grad transfer from Furman.

This is from the Coaching Changes Twitter site:
Rumors of mutiny are flying at Cleveland State right now
We’ve heard the best player is leaving and 6 more might be leaving too unless AD Scott Garrett makes a change

CSU has had 2 promising, rising sophs (Rashad Williams and Seth Millner) enter the transfer portal late in the season. It's already a shame, as CSU had a lot of talent coming back.

Coaching changes seems to be one of those accounts that fabricates or exaggerates a story to drive clicks. I hope this isn't true. Felton is a good coach who I believe will have good success in the HL. Not sure what the issue is down there, but it is generally a mistake to fire a good coach because of a "mutiny" by a bunch of players who haven't accomplished a lot in the won/loss record. I remember one of the stated reasons for getting rid of Coach Ray was that several players were going to transfer. That didn't exactly work out in the program's best interests.

It appears "Coaching Changes" may have been correct (for once):

Hard to figure out what could be happening. They got through a terrible season, but through March/April/May they were all coming back, except a couple obviously looking for playing time they weren't going to get at CSU.
Why now? What is going on to change their views on CSU and Coach Felton?

4 out of 5 of CSU's top scorers (Appleby, Hill, Williams & Milner) are looking to leave. They played 3,094 combined minutes last season. Of course, this combination of players together with the coach were not winning games.
I thought their 4-2 showing in the final 6 games of last season suggested a stronger showing this season.
Maybe Coach Felton is not secure with the new AD having been hired? Or maybe the new AD is requiring something different out of Felton and the players?

Poor Cleveland State fans have been getting HARD hit hard with transfers for a long time. Part of that, of course, is recruiting talented players who higher level programs covet. You can't tell me that there wasn't some tampering going on with Appleby, who entered the transfer portal today and has an official visit with Arkansas scheduled for tomorrow. Kind of reminds me of the Calliste transfer, where JC announced his transfer and was on a plane to Oregon the next day.
Hard to know what is going on without some inside information, but the Vikings are losing a lot of talent at a bad time.

You would think this might be worth a small iota of the effort the NCAA puts in to scrutinizing every freshman transcript for eligibility issues.

Yeah, you would think so, because that kind of tampering is really damaging to smaller schools.

The Vikings reportedly got a verbal commitment from UNLV transfer Tervell Beck. Beck is a Cleveland native who played two years at UNLV. He was a three star recruit in high school at Cleveland Catholic. He had a solid freshman year, averaging 7 ppg, but slipped to 4ppg in his sophomore season. This is good for Cleveland State for a couple of reasons. Obviously they need to add talent to replace what they have lost, and it is always good to bring some local talent back home. Also, if players are committing to the Vikings now, perhaps it means that Felton is going to stay for at least the season. This would be brutal timing for a coaching change. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4278950/tervell-beck
