Seriously, does anyone know what is going on with Greg E? Even if the Titans don't get him, I'm curious. He's a Detroit kid so I hope things work out for him and that he lands in a good place. I'm still surprised that he left UIC. Would love to know the story behind that. I've heard nothing at all. It seems he hasn't received a release from UIC, which I believe means he can't take visits or even talk to other schools. Although I'd love to have him, I seriously doubt, if and when he gets a release, he comes here. The only tiny thing in our favor is that BA seemly continues to refuse to acknowledge Hogan is leaving and continues to hold a scholarship for him. I'm guessing Hogan will be on UAB's campus sometime after summer classes are completed, playing in pick up games and working out with his new team mates and BA will be forced to face reality. At approximately the same time that UIC will release Greg E. and since we are the only D1 team with a scholarship open and a need for a Center that is still recruiting him......... I doubt that Greg E. ends up a Titan. I think that speculation is largely based on one or two message board posts at the other site that appear to have been mistaken. But in the FWIW category, the following people have recently begun following Greg on Twitter: Patrick Ackerman (hey, I remember that guy), Grad Asst at Nevada Doug Bucshon, publisher of Rivals website "Orange & Blue News" (them's the colors of the Fighting Illini) Michael Furlong, Grad Asst. at Kansas State Steve Curran, Asst Coach at St. Bonaventure The Kingston Academy, a prep school in Cincinnati Jonathan Holmes, Asst Coach at Wm. & Mary

I see that Cleveland St is having 2017 F/C Alex Ismail in on an unofficial visit next week. Ismail, from Dearborn Heights Annapolis HS, is 6'10" and was #55 on PrephoopsMichigan.com's pre season class of 2017 rankings. I wonder if he would be an option to take Hogan's scholarship? If he's a local kid that's good enough for Cleveland St, why not? (Yale, ECU, Jacksonville, UMass -Lowell and Denver have also all reached out to him)

Unofficial word is that Bass Ollie, an undersized (6-3) forward from Kalamazoo Central, will join the Titans next year as a preferred walk-on. Per the great HSScout, he was ranked #166 in the state by Prep Hoops Michigan a year ago. K Central coach Ramsey Nichols was a Titan star in the early 1990s, but did not overlap with Coach Bacari. So far, I don't recall that he has steered any players to Detroit.

FYI: Heard a rumor yesterday that Kevin McAdoo appears to be reclassifying to the 2018 class. Of course the rumor was wrong - McAdoo to EMU

Wing Dylan Alderson from Clarkston commits to UW-Milwaukee. Another one bites the dust.... With the coaching change, Alderson is now at Toledo

Al Eichelberger Jr., long time Titan recruit in the class of 2016 who committed to DePaul and then transferred, has enrolled at Cleveland State University. A former DePaul assistant joined the Cleveland State staff a month or so ago, which made the Vikings a rumored destination for Little Al. (His Dad is Big Al.)

As others have said, eventually the program is going to have to start signing players who don't have a relative or former coach on staff. Remember, one of the supposed advantages of hiring BA as coach was going to be better recruiting. So far, not so much. But I'm also worried about us losing current players to academic issues.

This might be the final straw that just pushed me over the edge. I'm so very frustrated with BA and the direction of this program...... I've always liked Al, but this is one where: a) he wasn't that good at DePaul. Although I think he'll be a good Horizon player, he didn't show much last year, and it's not like he was a top 100 recruit out of HS; b) he was recruited by Ray, not BA, certainly not Chatman, and not really JJ either (Al committed to DePaul shortly after JJ joined the Titan staff). As Michigan wasn't recruiting him out of high school, I doubt there was any relationship of any kind. CSU had a big in with the assistant who recruited him to DePaul. c) if Hogan comes back--which some still think will be the case--it appears that there are no scholarships to offer; even if one is available you might want to hold it for a mid-year transfer; d) while it might make sense to have Al ready to step in in a year in place of Prince (and possibly Hogan?), Michigan's high school class is very deep next year. Is Al--whose progress really stalled out about 10th grade--going to better than someone we can land in the Class of '18? I think in these next 12 months we're going to learn if BA and team can recruit or not. We got a decent haul this year, but that's due to advantages that won't keep repeating. We will hopefully get the younger Chatman brother next year on the same basis, but we'll need more. The few of us who participate regularly on this board have been particularly skeptical of BA.This next year will prove if that was justified.
