Whomever our new coach is, I hope he doesnt have a college basketball playing son. It would be a real shame to have another Ray McCallum II or Antoine Davis in the lineup, for sure. I agree with RBJ and Commish. Say NO to nepotism.

I loved Ray Mccallum, I didnt particularly care for how the offense completely revolved around Antoine Davis, nor did I like how Mike Davis complained after every game about how Twon was being defended. "They keep triple teaming Twon", "They touched Twon", "They breathed on Twon".

I want to see a new coach by Wednesday of this week or else?……….. larrytitan should be renamed doubtingthomastitan. Unless he can see the coach, he will exercise his "or else" option. I think the choice has been made subject to approval by the president and trustees and subject to them reaching a contractual agreement. Once those things happen, the person will be announced. I don't have any information, but my guess is that it came down to Montgomery and Blount. And Taylor could overrule Vowels and select the candidate he thinks is best. If we are going to go local, then Montgomery has head coaching experience and knows our facilities and situation from his 4 months here in 2021. If we are going to go the younger assistant, then Blount has the best credentials. BS in Psychology, MS in Education. He had 2 years experience in operations at Drake. He had experience at UW-Stevens Point, St. Leo's, and Drake that are all lower budgeted, lower division or a mid-major like Drake. The Iowa State tree of assistants seems to produce better head coaches than the UM tree. Saddi and Haynes don't have masters degrees and never worked in operations.

Based on PTC’s sketch, I endorse Blount.

Based on PTC’s sketch, I endorse Blount. Not sure what a Masters Degree has to do with coaching? It's a distinguishing educational credential as between Blount and the two other assistant candidates. IMO, the more important distinguishing factor is Blount's experience in operations at Drake. This means that he has experience running the back end as well as as the front end of recruiting, scheduling, grade management, budgeting, and compliance. Assuming that all 3 assistants are equal in recruiting skills and player development, Blount has a more well-rounded background and more academic credentials than the other 2 assistants.

I think in our case we need the guy who truely believes in his abilities and has energy that will not be easily drained running against all the obstacles that have been put in place there! Due to some of the stuff flying around on here a Masters in Agricultural Engineering might be beneficial!🤔

Also, three years ago, Montgomery was here for a semester and knows the bad stuff here pretty well. Yet, he still wants to coach here. That could indicate that he truly believes in his abilities to succeed here versus at a football school like NIU.

Did you guys see Wright State took 1 day to hire a new coach and that might actually be the worst D1 job because of talk about closing the school.

I have a feeling Vowels would l Make the dedicated assistant an intern coach then let him go and wait through most of a recruiting season to bring in someone else who is not vetted properly.
