What is needed is a coach who demands that Kuac play in the paint! In interviews last season, the staff stated that Kuac was still recovering from injury. It was difficult for him to play two games in a row. I don't think he had much of that athleticism left last season. Maybe he'll get some back with the passage of time, but he didn't look explosive at all in the action I saw.

Second (by one) on the team in blocked shots, and Davis had Kuac jumping center because he is a leaper. (Del Cadia was not a leaper.)

Kuac had 14 blocks on the season. All that means is that he was the second best shot blocker on a team with no shot blockers. He jumped center because he was the best of bad options, not because he was the second coming of Doug Anderson or Terry Tyler. Or Chase Simon for that matter.
I admire Kuac for working to come back, particularly when other players didn't seem to put forth that same level of effort. However, he shot 29% from the floor and grabbed one rebound roughly every 7 minutes. None of that says explosive athleticism.

But he is athletic enough to jump center, to guard bigger players. And, of course, it all depends on who else Monty can bring in.

Athletic enough to jump center and guard bigger players is something you could say about Del Cadia. He did the same thing. Neither of them did it particularly well. I will put it this way: at no point during the season did I see anything from Kuac that stood out from an athleticism standpoint. His stats bear that out. If your point is that he showed ordinary athleticism for a D1 college basketball player I don't disagree with that. Maybe he was more athletic pre-injury at New Mexico. I didn't see him enough there to form an opinion. With all that, if he comes back he could possibly be better, given that he will be further removed from those injuries.

In the last few weeks of the season, there were some glimpses of Kuac's athleticism and power. There were spurts in some games when it looked like he forgot that he had been injured and just played. He is a competitor and a good teammate to have on the roster.

He is a competitor and a good teammate to have on the roster. The fourth or 5th clip in this video shows he had a little burst in the tank when he was feeling healthy. I’ve gotten to know him pretty well this semester and he’s adamant they are going to turn this around.

Coach Monty told me yesterday that Tank and Stone are definitely gone - NIL offers are there. Coach said from last years roster he would keep 4 scholarship players. He told other players they were good but he had to build the strongest roster he can. My guess the 4 are Mak,Davis,Frenchy and Kuac.

What about Hurst?

Hurst is in the portal - not sure how desirable he is with his injuries. If he does stay - I would speculate he would be one of the 4 over Mak.

Assuming Coach Monty keeps only 4 scholarship players from last years squad, I'm hoping Ryan Hurst is one of the four. It will be interesting to see if Olajuwon and Johnson return as walk-on players.

Davis- back, mak- back, Kuac- back, french back (depending on academic eligibility) Those 4 have made that clear to me barring something unexpected happening.
Hurst seems to be in from a social media aspect but that one is still in the air for right now to me.

He got few minutes in the stretch at the end of the season and there was some discussion around whether the coaches didn't think much of him or whether they wanted to be able to red-shirt last season.

Oaks is in the transfer portal. We just recruited two guys who can play his position.
