Thank you. As soon as the Titans release their schedule, I'm going to try to check for the UIC game in Chicago and see if DePaul has a home game that same day/weekend. That would make a nice trip. Too bad Loyola's not an option this year.

DePaul has some positive recruiting buzz going. Not only did they sign Stimage, a high rated JUCO player who was the top senior in Illinois as a high school senior in Chicago, but they have two top ranked players from the class of 2014 who have listed DePaul in their final five and are coming for official visits. Even better, both guys are Chicago high schoolers.
Power forward Cliff Alexander is reportedly at DePaul for his official visit today. Alexander is rated the number five player in the class according to Scout, Rivals, and ESPN.
Power forward Paul White has stated that he will be making DePaul his last official visit. He is rated in the top 60 by Scout, Rivals, and ESPN.
It is unlikely that DePaul will get either of these guys. Both have offers from some of the best best programs in the country. DePaul getting them would be like the Titans getting Justin Tillman and Darrell Davis. Still, the buzz that they are getting from gaining the interest of such players is positive and will likely lead to more consideration from highly ranked Chicago players.
Like Detroit, DePaul is making strides in getting commitments from top local players.

DePaul maintains it's big presence on the Chicago radio airwaves:
"DePaul and WSCR Extend Long-Running Relationship for Two More Seasons"
CHICAGO – DePaul University and WSCR 670 The Score announced today that they have agreed on a multi-year extension that will keep men’s basketball broadcasts on the station for the next two seasons. DePaul enters its 16th consecutive season on 670 The Score in 2013-14. “The Score is pleased about the continued relationship with DePaul University and its men’s basketball team,” said WSCR program director Mitch Rosen. “The combination of the newly-formatted BIG EAST, the team’s potential and the power of The Score should make for a great season.”
The 2013-14 campaign is the 16th season of DePaul basketball on WSCR 670 The Score as the station remains one of the most popular spots on the dial in the Chicagoland area. The 50,000-watt station can be heard in 38 states and Canada. The Score has been the primary home of DePaul basketball since the start of the 1997-98 season.
“DePaul men’s basketball and the University community are pleased to continue our partnership with The Score,” said DePaul athletics director Jean Lenti Ponsetto. “DePaul is looking forward to bringing men’s basketball to our alumni, fans and friends over The Score’s airwaves for the 16th consecutive season.”
DePaul opens the season on Saturday, Nov. 9 against Grambling State at McGrath-Phillips Arena. The Blue Demons return eight players from last season including top scorers Cleveland Melvin and Brandon Young. Young averaged 16.7 points per game just ahead of Melvin’s 16.6 scoring average in 2012-13. A seven-player class of newcomers joins the returners as nine members of the 2013-14 roster are from the Chicagoland area.
In addition to the broadcast schedule, head coach Oliver Purnell will make a weekly appearance during the season to talk the latest in DePaul basketball. Schedules for both the broadcasts and the coach’s show will be announced as they are finalized.

Gets a verbal commitment today from 2015 PG Jon Davis, a guy the Titans had reportedly shown interest in, but not offered. I got a little more information on him. He was a 2014 player originally who rec-classified to 2015. However, he was able to get the necessary credit hours and standardized tests to a senior this year. Much like the Titans did with Paris Bass, DePaul stayed in constant contact with Davis, and made him an offer for the 2014 class. He accepted after his official visit this past weekend. Davis is a three star guard on Rivals and Scout and should fit in nicely with the Blue Demons. He had previously been coached in AAU by the guy who was hired this summer as an assistant at DePaul.

The Blue Demons take on the ASU Sun Devils Friday, December 6 at DePaul. I had actually planned on attending this game, but couldn't work it out. Should be a good game; DePaul beat ASU last year and the Demons look to be more talented this year than last. The game is on Fox Sports 1 if you want to get a look at the team that has been our semi-rival on the court and in recruiting the past few months and the team that I WISH was our every year on the court rival.
Go Demons.

DePaul picked up a good forward for the class of 2014, Raymond Doby. He's the third member (fourth if you count Myke Henry who transferred from Illinois and is sitting out) of what is shaping up to be a solid class for the Blue Demons. Coach Purnell needs some wins on the court and an improved recruiting class to solidify his job status. He's doing well with the recruiting so far. 247sports.com/Player/Raymond-Doby-22685

The Blue Demons suffered their first "Bad" loss of the year, losing at home to a .500 Illinois State team.
DePaul is 7-5 with Northwestern coming up on Friday, December 27. Like the Titans, DePaul has had some heavy hitters on it's non-conference schedule.

The Blue Demons are on the road against Northwestern tonight. Big game for the Demons, who are continuing to struggle with fan apathy and a long string of losing seasons, while Northwestern made a splash by hiring Chris Collins as coach and recruiting a strong 2014 class.
A win over Northwestern won't signal great things are in the future for DePaul, but a loss would be bitterly disappointing. I'll be watching on the Big Ten network tonight.

The Blue Demons came up with a last second shot to beat Northwestern. The Wildcats took the lead on a three with a few seconds left, but after a timeout, DePaul ran a play that resulted in freshman Billy Garrett scoring on a tough shot in the key right before the buzzer. I watched the game at Champs in Livonia and was the only person there who was into the game.

DePaul dropped their conference opener at Georgetown this evening, 61-54. They gave it a good effort, and never stopped fighting, but couldn't pull it off. On the plus side, their freshman guard Billy Garrett Jr. is going to be a Big East star before he leaves; he scored 17 today.
The negatives include a team free throw performance of 13-26, and several missed lay ups by many players. DePaul's two seniors, leading returning scorers Cleveland Melvin and Brandon Young, both played very poorly. Had just one of them played well, the Blue Demons might have pulled the upset.
