Oakland beat CB-Tarragona 101-99 yesterday to close out its trip at 3-0. Terragona plays in the Silver league, Spain's third league, and finished 10th last year. OU rallied from 15 points down for the win.

Sounds like a very successful trip for OU.

It would be interesting for someone to try to evaluate the benefits of these trips. How do teams do in the years they take trips? Do they do better, worse, or about the same as preseason projections? Do players show more improvement than normal? Does recruiting get better the next couple years?
It would be very hard and time consuming, especially because so many other variable affect these things. There must be somebody with even more time to waste than me

There must be somebody with even more time to waste than me That would be an interesting study. Definitely time consuming, because so many factors come into play that determine a successful season. Take the Titans last season. They went on a trip and several players showed promise, and they got the chance to build some chemistry. They had a losing record during the season, but Jenkins and Kane weren't eligible until the end of the first semester and, more critically, Patrick O missed the whole season with a knee injury. He was actually one of the guys who played very well during the trip. Any kind of study on those trips would need to take things like that into account. Meaning, it's a great task than I can undertake.

Good article on the Golden Grizzlies in Oakland's student newspaper: www.oaklandpostonline.com/sports/article_6fe3ca7e-75ca-11e5-bc14-d7bde8b69eae.htmlIn his previews of various Horizon League teams, Commish speculated that Tommie McCune might not be playing for Oakland. That is now confirmed: The team will be without starting forward Tommie McCune, who would’ve been a redshirt senior this season. McCune transferred to Oakland from West Virginia in 2012. He played in 64 games, making 45 starts while averaging 6.1 points and 3.4 rebounds. According to Kampe, he and McCune decided together that basketball was a deterrent to his pursuit of a college degree.
Regardless, Oakland looks to be a deep and talented team.

Michigan State is without Valentine tonight. Oakland has a shot. Oakland put up a great effort, leading by 13 at the half and coming back from six points down late for force overtime, but the Spartans prevailed, 99-93. Per the radio broadcast on WJR, Felder is the second leading scorer in the nation and the top assist man.

I didn't realize that assists had only been kept officially since 1984. Felder has had a great career at Oakland already. I am happy to see a local kid having such success, but I will be glad when he graduates.

The flagrant foul called against Hooper changed the game, MSU got 5 points on one trip, and I believe they cut the lead to two. Also, former titan great Dez Ferguson was sitting courtside on the front row, a few seats away from the MSU bench.

This post, from the Valpo board, is interesting in several ways:
1. I like Kampe's logic. He's thinking, and looking at stats and data. 2. Amazing he would respond in this detail to an email from a fan. That's what I like and admire about Kampe--he is always looking to promote/talk about his team/conference. I've often said he's a poor man's Dick Vitale, which I intend as a compliment, not an insult. He is a tireless promoter. 3. OU always seems to shoot free throws well. I should probably look up their history. I presume Kampe recruits for this, and it is a very valuable skill that is too often overlooked.

Look for Felder to return to school, but he's making himself available for the draft now.
Jon Rothstein @jonrothstein 7m7 minutes ago Oakland's Kay Felder will declare for the 2016 NBA Draft without an agent, sources told @cbssports. Can return to school after combine.
