As HSScout informed us, Ike is headed to Marquette. Good for him, but it also shows the difficulty that mid majors have when it comes to landing legit power forward and center types. Ike is a good player on a great high school team, but he wasn't a first or second (or third) team all state type. Players like that didn't get the early Marquette offers in days past. Now, they get snatched up early.
I am still hopeful of Greg becoming a Titan, but DePaul is in the mix and will make a hard push if they don't connect with other front court targets in the class of 2017.

The Titans under Ray had targeted Greg over Ike, I think making the rational (if a touch disheartening) calculation that Ike was the better of the two and likely to go high major. Greg is a very good player, and he'll get those borderline high major offers, such as DePaul, maybe some A10 (St. Bonaventure reportedly offered a while back), possibly someone like Mississippi State. But he is a realistic target for us. He's gotta like the coach, the program, and the school. It would be nice to get an early commit maybe from Triple J, a sign that a guy like Greg is going to be paired with top talent. That might help, too.
I have relatively low expectations for Bacari's first recruits (unless we count Allen, who committed last fall). I'm glad to see us get a couple big bodies like Jones and Eichler, but my expectations are modest. Don't know what to expect from Long, though I'm hopeful. A bit more hopeful for Black, but we'll see. I like the Chatman transfer but I've said repeatedly, sitting on bench in the Big 10 doesn't guarantee you'll be a Horizon star. This year will be the first season when Bacari has a chance to do more than pick through the late deciders and leftovers. Not that there isn't talent there late, I'm not rippin our new recruits, but let's be honest--most of the top players in the country were signed by the time BA became coach. So if nothing else, this year should be "easier" for him.
We should have 3 scholarships. Greg would be a big part of a good first full year of recruiting for BA and team.

Looks like Greg E is signing with Illinois. I guess you could say he left UIC but didn't leave the U of Illinois system.
I'm happy for Greg and Ike, but I am disappointed that we couldn't keep either one in Northwest Detroit.

Greg struck me as a very good mid major prospect, and I was kind of surprised that he landed in the Big Ten. He had an acceptable freshman year, appearing in 30 games and averaging 10 minutes, 2 points, and 2 rebounds per game. He had a season high ten points against Michigan. I would be happy to see him land with Detroit. I expect that Georgia State will be in pursuit as well, given that Greg was a Titan target under Coach Ray.

I wish the Titans had a coach so instead of talking about the gross incompetence of the administration in hiring a coach we could speculate about an actual coach who could actually approach Greg Egboigboden about transferring to UofD, and think of what a great get that would be for us (at least until Egg commits to Valpo).

In fact, if we had a coach in place (especially someone like Davis) I would feel good about our chances to land him. But as I mentioned above, watch out for Coach Ray coming around talking about the good situation at GSU.

I agree, I dont know what the scholarship situation was like at Georgia State in the summer of 2016, I was really surprised that a few titans didnt follow coach Mac to Atlanta that year.

Senior Day for Ike Eke at Marquette today. Ike's career was ruined by injuries. Never played a game in 4 years.
