Interesting to see Davidson picked for last. I understand why the A10 chose Davidson but I think they may come to regret it on both sides. Davidson played in a very small pond, and I suspect their ability to succeed against A10 quality opposition was highly overrated. And while the school has some potential - some history, big endowment - it's not really in a major market (it's only about 25 miles from Charlotte, but it feels further; I don't think people think of it as part of Charlotte the way that, say, Oakland is considered in the Detroit Metro area), it's very small, and has a very small arena. It may be just sour grapes - I had hoped that the Horizon might look to Davidson as part of a Southern Strategy. I think that might have been a better move for Davidson, which would be very competitive, I think, in the Horizon.

Dayton suffers a setback. They had high hopes for this young man.
Jeff Goodman @goodmanespn 5m Dayton 6-11 freshman Steve McElvene been ruled a partial qualifier by the NCAA and will not play this season. Will be allowed to practice.

More commentary from the A-10 media day, with a local twist:
Jon Rothstein @jonrothstein 3m3 minutes ago The biggest surprise from A 10 Media Day? URI's E.C. Matthews not on the preseason first team. Averaged 19 PPG in final 12 games last year.
