Well, Mr. Kane's "Now you see him, now you don't, now you see him again, now you don't" rumored existence on the Titan basketball team continues. I got encouraged for a moment when I saw the team pic on twitter, but now that it's apparently been removed, I'm wondering again. I've been checking the roster but he hasn't shown up yet. I think somebody jumped the gun on posting that pic, but hopefully Kirky's report that he's on campus and in class is a good sign.
Hard to tell what we'll be getting with him, but I like to think staff has recruited a player who can give us more than we were able to get from Solanke, bless his heart. We're still very limited at the center spot, particularly if Ackerman is the outside player he appeared to be in Canada.
It would be a big plus if in 2014-15 Ackerman or Kane could give us what we got from our starting center last year, and give us even more in 2015-16.
The season officially begins in about seven days, with the first game in about six weeks. Hopefully Kane's situation is resolved soon.

I have had continuous Twitter access from my computer to the pic you reference, beginning this morning to current time.

I have tried multiple desktop computers and a smartphone - I can no longer access the page with the photo. It keeps giving me the message that "the page no longer exists". When I go directly to Mr Hasse's tweets, that posting/photo is no longer present. I'm sure, if as Kirky said, that Kane is not official yet, then a graduate assistant posting a photo of a player who is not officially part of the team yet, in uniform, is probably something the staff/athletic department would frown upon and ask him to take down. No conspiracy theories or drama at all. Just like when Shy was removed suddenly from the roster and didn't appear in the the above mentioned team photo - It leads one to believe that he is no longer part of the team. My interest is obviously how many scholarships are being used, who is walking on, etc so as to determine how many tentative scholarships we have next season for recruiting purposes. I realize the school always can't reveal info due to timing, academic issues, etc, but this is what leads to us guessing as to what's going on and speculating over each little nugget of info (like photos, unannounced roster changes, Kirky's on campus info, etc), and being considered scandalous. I guess we will find out for sure at practice #1 in another week.

TJ, I haven't been able to access that pic since yesterday. The fact that there was a team pic with him in it and Kirky's report of Kane on campus is encouraging, however. I agree the pic being taken down has some significance, especially given the fact that he's not on the roster.
Like you said, we will know soon enough. Hope it all works out.

Here's a video of Kane in game action. I don't think we've seen this before.

Obviously, it was just a scrimmage, but I liked what I saw from Kane last night. You can tell he's more polished than some of the other JUCO front court guys we've gotten in the past three years. He did a couple of nice post ups. He passed the ball well from the low block. He scored on a nice move where he caught the ball with his back to the basket and put it on the floor, going baseline and scoring with a lay up on the other side. He also scored by cutting to the basket and catching a pass, then finishing with a nice two handed dunk. He ran the floor well, and he's a good athlete. He's smaller than NJ, so he didn't hold his rebound position as well.
I think he can give us some solid minutes this year and be a rotation guy. Plus, each time he scored, I got to shout out, "Big Daddy Kane!"

Big Daddy Kane built on his performance from the scrimmage and had a nice game today. Had four rebounds, an assist, and a steal. He also blocked a shot but did not get credit for it on the official stats. Took one shot and missed it, but made good decisions with the ball in the post. He had two nice passes that would have been assists had his teammates not missed lay ups, and threw a nice baseline pass to a shooter in the corner for an open shot that unfortunately missed.
The big thing is, he played today, which would seem to indicate that he is eligible immediately. That is very good news, particularly with the tough games early in the non-conference schedule. And if I might look ahead, if he gains about twenty pounds before next season, he'll really be good.

Big Daddy Kane had his best game as a Titan last night against Wright State, putting up six points on 3-5 shooting to go with five rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Kane is not the rim protector/shot blocker that NJ was, but he gets good defensive position and challenges shots. He also is a very good passer out of the post. Hopefully Kane is starting to get more comfortable now. I'd like to see his minutes increase, maybe with all the minutes at the center spot going to him and Hogan. espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/3155752/youssoupha-kane

The press release announcing that Jalen Gibson is officially a Titan also confirmed that Kane is transferring. I know he didn't set the world on fire last season but I thought he had potential and I think the four and five spots are the last places we could afford to lose bodies.
In any case, best of luck Big Daddy Kane, wherever you land. Looked like you always gave your best effort.
