Rather than put them under each team's individual threads, I thought I'd start a thread on Horizon League signings as the early signing period gets under way.
Green Bay signed three today: Joel Okafor, a 5-10 G from Richmond, Indiana. ESPN *** 77. Averaged 8.5 ppg, 6 assists and 2.1 steals as a junior on 22-3 squad. ESPN ranks him the #38 point guard in the country. Had offers from Wright State and Western Michigan, among others. Antoine Pittman, 6-3 G from Rockford, Illinois. Averaged 16.3 points and 6 rebounds as junior. Offers from Nevada and Northern Illinois, among others. Julian Torres, a 6-9, 240 lb. C from Bolingbrook, Illinois. Torres is a project, but he's a big, fully developed body, and Green Bay is hoping his skills can develop to match that frame. UIC, Northern Illinois, and Bradley were among his offers.
Valparaiso signed two: Daniel Relvao, 6-9, 235 lb. PF from Portugal, attends Mt. Mission school in Grundy, Virginia, which is a little coal town in far western Virginia. He had offers from Rhode Island, Montana State and Liberty when he gave Valpo his commitment. He's raw, and may need a redshirt year. Derrick Smits, 7-0 C from Zionsville, Indiana. ESPN *** 77. Certainly the big Horlzon signing of the day, and likely to be for the season. Son of former NBA Star Rik Smits, chose Valpo over Indiana, Butler, Xavier, Clemson, UTEP and others. Valpo looks set up front for the next few years.
Oakland signed three today: Brad Brechting, 6-10 C, Cedar Springs, Michigan. An excellent signing for OU. Averaged 15.5 points, 9.2 rebounds. Ranked about the 5th-7th best player in Michigan Class of '15 by recruiting services. OU gets the nod over Cleveland State and Central Michigan. Jaevin Cumberland, 6-2 SG from Wilmington, Ohio. Averaged 21.8 ppg as junior. Had a number of other mid-major offers, the best of which as probably Kent State. He's the type of shooting guard that Kampe loves, and loves to spotlight. Xavier Hill-Mais, 6-7, 240 lb. PF from Greensboro, NC. Averaged 10 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks for 27-3 team last year. Best other offer was UNC-Wilmington.
Cleveland State got an inked letter: Jibri Blount, 6-6 SF from Akron. Averaged 6 points, 5 rebounds as a junior. Other offers were low majors.
It seems that the Horizon is raking in an unusual number of big men. Several more signings are anticipated, included Rob Edwards of Detroit Cass Tech with CSU, and UD's signings of Detroit Western stars Josh McFolley and Gerald Blackshear. CSU also expects to land a juco, and Wright State should have some signings. We'll keep track.

No official release from the school, but press reports that YSU got signatures yesterday: Latin Davis, 5-11 G, from Milan, Michigan. YSU has to be happy to beat out arch-rival Kent State and get the early signature from Davis, who has been rapidly moving up in rankings. Davis averaged 16 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.6 steals per game as a junior. Devin Haygood, 6-7 SF, Ypsilanti, Michigan. YSU raided Michigan again to sign Haygood. Averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds as junior. Haygood's other offers were from low majors such as New Orleans and North Carolina A&T. Jordan Andrews, 6-3 SG, Reserve, Louisiana. Averaged 11.1 ppg as junior. Had a bunch of low to low-mid major offers, the best probably being Robert Morris and Northeastern. Said to be pure shooter.

I'm hesitant to rely on Twitter feeds other than from the players or coaches themselves, but given that they were expected to sign and it racing through the twitter networks, I'll suggest a couple more signings:
Cleveland State, which we noted yesterday had signed Jibri Blount, appears to have added: Rob Edwards, 6-2 G from Detroit Cass Tech. Neither Edwards nor Blount had much recruiting action and don't strike me as especially impressive signings. But the word is that CSU may get a very impressive signing today or tomorrow in Farmington, Michigan 6-6 forward Jeron Rogers, for whom they got into the fray late. The Titans have an offer to Rogers, as have Oakland, Toledo, Buffalo, and several other mid-majors. CSU has a verbal from juco guard Josh Mitchell, no word on him yet.
Detroit, which "amicably parted" with touted verbal commit Lacey James earlier this week, has signed two: Josh McFolley, 6-0 PG from Detroit. Top-rated point guard in Michigan and rising fast. Picked up a bunch of mid-major offers (Oakland, Cleveland State, Kent State, others) this summer and looked likely to keep rising before commitment to Detroit halted his recruitment. As junior, averaged 15 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals per game on 24-2 team. Gerald Blackshear, 6-8 PF from Detroit. McFolley's teammate at Detroit Western. Blackshear averaged 7 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks as a junior. Only other offer was VMI.

Cleveland State makes gets a commitment from Jeron Rogers. No official announcement yet, and not entirely clear that he has signed an LOI. Jeron Rogers, 6-6 F, Farmington, MI. CSU beat out Horizon rivals Oakland and Detroit, MAC teams Toledo and Buffalo, and a bunch of other mid-majors. An excellent signing of one of Michigan's top 10 players.
UIC definitely got some signatures: Burak Eslik, a 6-4 guard from Turkey playing at Lewis & Clark CC. Averaged 23.5 ppg as a senior at Fayetteville (NC) Christian and 13.5 ppg last season for Lewis & Clark. Drew Hackett, a 6-2 guard from Munster, Indiana. Hackett averaged 18.5 ppg, 3.5 apg, and 2.5 spg last year as a junior. Garrett Bye, 6-10 C from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Averaged 7.2 points and 6.1 rebounds last year as junior. Had offers from Dartmouth and UMBC.

Blount played on a loaded svsm team, with several D1 players, he talented enough to start for any team, his stats were 12Ppg and 8Rpg. He had a very impressive spring on the aau circuit and his stock soared, same with Edwards. Waters offered them first, before all the others. Edwards is rated among the top sg in Michigan on a loaded Cass tech team, which is usually.

Green Bay lost recruits Antoine Pittman and Julian Torres after coach Brian Wardle left for Bradley.
UIC signed Hassan Thomas, a 6-7 PF from Plano, Texas, and Michael Kolawole, a 6-3 SG from Garland, Texas. Thomas had offers from Wyoming, SMU, North Texas State, Middle Tennessee State, Cal-State Northridge, Grand Canyon, and Kennessaw State. A number of high majors showed interest without offering. Kolawole had a number of mid-major offers, including Fresno State, Fairfield, Manhattan, Weber State, North Texas, Texas-Arlington, Lamar, and Abilene Christian.
Milwaukee signed dimunitive (5-9) juco PG Jordan Johnson, from John Wood CC.
YSU got a letter of intent from 6-6 juco F Matt Donlan. He signed with YSU over Idaho State and San Francisco.

Milwaukee got a verbal from Minnesota guard Jeremy Johnson. Johnson had offers from Green Bay, Denver, others.
UIC recently picked up a verbal from Green Bay de-commit Julian Torres. They also recently got a commitment from Dominique Mathews, who had offers from Mississippi, Toledo, and Milwaukee, among others. A real nice recruiting class for new UIC Coach Steve McClain.

YSU signed Brett Frantz, a 6-3 #2 guard today. Frantz is the Neosho CC backcourt running mate of BJ Jenkins, a Titan target. , Brett Frantz. Frantz averaged 14.2 points and 2.6 assists per game, shooting 40.5% from behind the arc.

The Titans indeed signed Neosho CC point guard BJ Jenkins today. Signing day is always a time to be optimistic, but I do think this may be a bit of a sleeper signing. In both high school and juco Jenkins played on teams dominated by upperclassmen -- the top 10 players on his HS team were seniors, and his juco team was dominated by sophs, including center Joseph Acuil, who signed with Baylor, and guard Brett Frantz, who, as noted above, signed with YSU this week. That kind of support keeps you from puffing up your stats, but Jenkins' stats are quite good (18.1 ppg; 3.5 rpg; 5.8 apg; 2.14 A/TO; 2.8 spg; 46.2% from three points). Reputation as a clutch player. And not surprisingly, he's been playing on teams that have won a lot. Detroit (and YSU) both can use a good infusion of winning attitude. He's also a little short, which can keep your high major offers down. He could help the Titans a lot, and from all accounts this sounds like an excellent fit for both player and team.
