One addition to Larry Fogle bio. Larry attended Southwest Louisiana for his soph year before transfer to Canisius. He averaged 14.8 ppl for the Rajun Cajuns. Right you are!

Here's from the discussion of Owen Wells in the "Top 100 Titans List": Wells really helped set the tone for the Vitale/Gaines era on December 8, 1973, when he hit 15 of 25 shots and 8 of 9 free throws for 38 points as the Titans blasted a Campy Russell-led Michigan squad, 70-59. The final score doesn’t do justice to the Titan performance, and Wells was pulled late with the game in hand, to a big hug from Vitale and a thunderous ovation from the Calihan crowd of 7485. Over that 11-1 start, Wells tended to be at his best when he faced the best. Besides outplaying Russell, he also outplayed Canisius’s Larry Fogle (the nation’s leading scorer, whom Wells outscored 36-30), and two-time Big 10 scoring champ Mike Robinson of Michigan State (Wells also hit the winning bucket with 10 seconds left in overtime in that one). Wells was good for 20 points in a win over Fairfield for the Motor City title, a game featured in Sports Illustrated, another 20 in the win over Minnesota, and a team-best 18 in a January win over Dayton (unranked at the time, but ranked both earlier and later in the season).

Congratulations to Mike Thomas on coaching Grand Blanc boys basketball to a D1 state championship a few moments ago. I've long noted that I believe he is the best high school basketball coach in the state today and would be a fantastic candidate for the staff (most likely head coach, now) at Detroit Mercy. Before Thomas arrived, Grand Blanc had not played for the title in something like a million years. Great job, coach!

You've been an advocate for Coach Thomas for a long time, and he keeps proving you right.

This Minnifield kid on Flint Beecher looks like the real deal. His game looks like it would translate to D1 much better than some of the other guards they've had in the past... like a Malik Ellison.

Former Titan assistant coach and head coach of Detroit Western HS, Derrick McDowell, has been hired as the new head coach of the Farmington HS boy's BB team. He coached McFolley and Blackshear at Western after they transferred there from Mt. Clemens HS.

Was sad to just read that the catholic finals will be at Eastern while the PSL finals will be at the ORena.
I think that’s a real dang shame and want to know why neither or both of those aren’t at calihan.

No food ---benches moved on the other side of the court. It has the charm of hospital under Vowels. He does not want games there, scared stiff.

Don't know if we've ever posted this before. Back in 2014 Sport Scene put out a list of the Top 100 players in Michigan High School basketball history. That's a big task, but I think they came up with a solid list. I've added a link below. Here is the Top Ten. The University of Detroit is well represented. 1. Ervin "Magic" Johnson. Lansing Everett 2. Chris Webber. Detroit Country Day 3. George "The Iceman" Gervin. Martin Luther King Jr. High School 4. Chet "The Jet" Walker. Benton Harbor 5. Dave Debusschere. Austin Catholic 6. Spencer Haywood. Pershing 7. Shane Battier. Detroit Country Day 8. Ralph Simpson. Pershing 9. Campy Russell. Pontiac Central 10.Glen Rice.
