Oregon landed another transfer, picking up UNLV grad transfer Shakur Juiston. Shakur averaged 11 and 9 for the Running Rebels last season. The Ducks have done a good job of putting a roster together in s short period of time.

One of the things that stands out about Arizona is the way they continue to recruit at a high level, despite being named in the ongoing NCAA issues and the threat of sanctions. Four star guard Dalen Terry of Tempe, Arizona committed to the Wildcats this past week. Terry is ranked as high as #25 in the nation by rating services. Whatever Miller is doing to get players (and witness accounts and wiretaps say he does a lot) it's working. Zona had the #5 class in the nation in 2019. www.espn.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/235244/dalen-terry

I don't know why Tillman left Utah, but UNLV is a good landing spot for him.

Well, if you are going to hire a father to get his sons, you won't find a situation that got more bang for the buck than the Mobley situation at USC. Trojan head coach Andy Enfield hired AAU coach Eric Mobley in March of 2018. Two months later, Eric's son Isaiah committed to USC for the class of 2019. Isaiah is universally considered a five star recruit. Today, Eric's younger son Evan committed to the Trojans. He is ranked as the top player in the class of 2020. As a bonus, Eric Mobley also brought along another one of his AAU players, 2019 5 star recruit Onyega Okongwu. Used to be it was frowned upon to hire a coach just to get a couple of connected recruits, but it is pretty much accepted as the way things are done nowadays. Given the on paper haul from hiring Mobley, no one at USC will be complaining. www.latimes.com/sports/usc/story/2019-08-05/evan-mobley-usc-commitment-college-basketball-prospect

In April Oregon was down to six players and looking like they might struggle to field a competitive team in 19-20. However, through the use of transfers, reclassifications, and some shrewd high school signings, the roster has been rebuilt and some are calling the Ducks a top 15 team for the coming season. Today they beat out UK and LSU for a five star 2019 center. 247sports.com/player/nfaly-dante-46041492/

Patterson is a four star recruit who just reclassified from 2020 to 2019. Incredible off season for the Ducks.

UCLA gets a commitment from five star guard Daishen Nix in the class of 2020. Nice pick up for Mick Cronin. That's his first commitment for 2020.

Big news for Oregon State, who appear to be getting back their best player. This is a pivotal year for head coach Tinkle. He was hired in 2014 as the "hot, young, mid major head coach" to replace Craig Robinson. Tinkle brought his son, who was a top 100 player, and hired ex-Louisville player Steven Thompson as an assistant, getting Thompson's two top 100 ranked sons in the process. After going 17-14 in year one, he went 19-13 in year two and made the NCAA tourney. Last year they fell to 5-27, 1-17. I wouldn't say Tinkle's job is in trouble, but he can't have another season like last year. www.fanragsports.com/news/oregon-states-tres-tinkle-fully-cleared-activities/The above post is from over two years ago. Today, Oregon State announced a one year extension for Tinkle, taking him through the 2022-23 season. This despite the fact that Tinkle has been the coach at OSU for five years and has only that one and done NCAA appearance in 2016 to show for it. There have been no other post season appearances of any kind during his tenure. He's won 48% of his games overall, and 38% of conference games. Sometimes strong recruiting classes in the pipeline will protect a coach, but Tinkle's last two classes have been ranked 10th and 9th in the PAC 12. Tinkle replaced coach Craig Robinson and got some buzz going when his son Tres Tinkle committed. Tres was a four star/Top 100 recruit. Tinkle then hired former college star Steven Thompson as an assistant coach, and that kept the buzz going because Thompson had two high school age sons who were four star recruits. Both sons committed to OSU (the youngest is a junior there now), but that hasn't translated to winning. OSU is a tough job, and the administration seems to be willing to show Tinkle more patience than they showed his predecessor.
