Sad really sad. I don't know if we can continue this dumpster fire much longer.

Sad really sad. I don't know if we can continue this dumpster fire much longer. From all indications (Simmons commitment, new offers, BA tweeting about next years schedule) it looks like we'll be riding with BA at least one more year. I can't imagine what it will be like next season if we don't have big improvement.

Yeah, I was totally wrong on that one. Apparently that's my pattern, since two years ago I thought that Ray was coming back when he wasn't fired until a few weeks after the season ended. If I was Corey, I'd be heading someplace where I had as much certainty as possible that my ability and attitude would dictate my play, instead of other factors beyond my control. From the outside, that appeared to be the case this past season at U-D.

BA had me fooled too after this past weekend. He got a commitment, handed out at least 3 scholarship offers and most importantly, he tweeted for hours about next season like it was business as usual. Changes needed to be made, and as much as it hurts in the short-term (the next few seasons), the program had become an uncompetitive shell of it's former self and things weren't getting better. I hope the Administration hires the right guy who can turn things around (& I would prefer us to completely cut ties with JJ - he just seems so dirty in all of this, being associated with 2 fired head coaches).
To BA, I truly wish him well. He's an alumni and former player, so although it didn't work out with us right now, I believe he will land on his feet and coach or assist again soon.

Because I feel bad for Bacari, and because I don't like churning coaches, I have to remind myself how bad it was. It's not like we've had two bad seasons but you can see progress. The W-L record is probably worse than it seems when you consider we lost 3 exhibitions to D-II teams, and this year's 6 D-I wins included OT over an awful Houston Baptist team, and three others by 1-2 points on last second shots. The roster heading into next season looks weaker than two years ago. There's no sense that the defensive mentality BA discussed when hired has taken any hold. In game strategy is weak. The team frequently seems unprepared in the opening minutes, falling way behind. It's not been pretty off-court, either, between SMD, players becoming academically ineligible, and now the Allen transfer. I'm trying to remember, did the team have a single major contributor transfer out under Ray? Well, yes, Calliste. Were there any others in 8 years under Ray? Attendance is way down, with zero enthusiasm.
Whoever is next has a real chore. And I am increasingly dismayed by the Titans dwindling fan base-not just its size, but, if the other board is any indication, its quality. They're going to continue bad-mouthing everything, whining and bitching and attacking.
I hope the new coach can keep Adrian Nelson, whom, as I've made clear, I think is a good mid-major player. I see him as a 2-3 year starter and a potential 1st/2nd team all-conference caliber player by his senior year. It would be great if the new guy convinced Corey to stay, although he will probably figure he's heard that pitch before. I'm willing to give the new guy 5-7 years to turn things around, but there need to be signs of that turnaround long before 7 years are up. That's what was missing with BA--any sense that the program was going anywhere.

So many thoughts racing thru the gifted mind of Larrytitan: ....Ray wasn't released until April 1...Bacari on March 26....3-4 weeks after final game....why the delay? .......if JJ has been selected to be interim HC, that is a sign that he will not be released. .....Chatman will remain on staff as long as Kam remains on team. If Kam goes pro (Europe) then coach Chatman is gone unless Khalil arrives. ....If JJ gets HC job, then I don't see Cory Allen changing his mind and staying. He would still be playing behind JJJ. What will be status of new recruits? Nelson and Hightower have signed LOI....Simmons and Barnes have not. Did they have a strong connection with JJ as well as Bacari?

One of the EMU message boards, they are talking excitedly about the possibility of adding Ypsi native Corey Allen.

One of the EMU message boards, they are talking excitedly about the possibility of adding Ypsi native Corey Allen. I feel that the possibility of a new coach keeping Allen are low, especially if JJ becomes the head coach. Allen at EMU may a great fit for him since he’d be an instant star in the MAC. Any possibility of a hardship waiver since the BA was fired?

Corey would have to sit out a year right? Or does a coaching change somehow exempt him from sitting out? He doesn't seem to have the credits to be grad transfer having just finished his soph season. Seeing him flourish so close to home would sting that much more.

He would have to sit out so long as he transfers to another D1 institution... I believe. Yes, it would sting.

If the tracking at Verbal Commits is to be believed...Eastern doesn't have room on their roster at the moment scholly wise, even with Nobles departing to OU. They also seem to be pursuing a number of Juco guard options. If Corey was going to go, he'd probably have to go soon and secure his place there - otherwise there just may not be room at the inn.

Tony Paul also tweeted: Oakland probably would love to have Corey Allen, but that won't be happening. Detroit Mercy will not release him to its chief rival.
