Coach Ray is expected to be named as assistant coach on the staff of Ron Hunter at Georgia State. Smart hire for Coach Hunter.
Jeff Goodman @goodmanespn 6m6 minutes ago Georgia State's Ron Hunter will hire former Detroit head coach Ray McCallum on his staff, source told ESPN. Also hiring Sharman White.

The ball just wouldn't bounce his way the last few years. Going 1-5 vs Kampe sealed the deal.

Cool pic that hit my timeline on Twitter, with Coach Ray in conversation with my favorite coach, Tubby Smith, at the Memphis basketball practice facility. Georgia State was on a road trip and Memphis offered up their facility for the Panthers to use while traveling.

Just an update on a guy we talked about previously... Bored and checking out the rosters of some of the teams I follow, and saw Jordan Tyson's name on the Georgia State roster. As we recall, Coach Ray likes having a traditional center type on the roster. Tyson is a rotation player off the bench, collecting 2 points and 2 rebounds per game in 10 minutes per game. Played in all 35 contests. www.georgiastatesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=211066212&DB_OEM_ID=12700

Coach Ray was back in town today, at UDJ and probably other places as well. Having taken Corey Allen from Detroit to Atlanta earlier, looks like Coach Ray is looking to add some Cubs to the GSU roster. Probably has a pretty good pitch, too, with GSU coming off an NCAA tourney appearance and an Atlanta locale.
UDJ Coach Donnelly posted this on Twitter:
"Great catching up with Georgia State Assoc Head Coach Ray McCallum today. Getting it done down in ATL. Thanks for checking in on our student-athletes, Coach! @georgiastatembb "

I'd kill to have Ray back. This is a clown show and, by contrast, Ray is a dignified and decent person. good old days already.

Georgia State gets another good guard prospect transfer. Justin Roberts transferred from DePaul and will join another solid transfer, Corey Allen, as a red shirt this coming season. They should be a good combination in the backcourt for GSU in 2019-20. Not sure if Coach McCallum played a role in Roberts choosing the Panthers, but it certainly seems like recruiting has ticked up since Ray joined the staff in Atlanta. 247sports.com/college/depaul/Board/103822/Contents/Justin-Roberts-to-Georgia-State-119764234/
