Reports state that Coach Mac will be moving to Tulane with Coach Hunter. All things considered, probably a good move for Coach. I'm not sure what he's making as Associate Head Coach at GSU, but I'm sure he'll be getting a good raise at Tulane, which is an AAC school. Coach Hunter is probably at Tulane for a minimum of four years, which is an important factor for assistant coaches to consider. Projected stability is always a good thing. Best of luck with the Green Wave, Coach. Interesting that you mentioned coach Macs GSU salary, I was also curious about that and I googled it, he's making $117,000 in salary plus almost an additional 20K for travel expenses. Not bad at all. I think coach Mac is being smart by not attempting to get the GSU job. www.open.georgia.gov/openga/salaryTravel/list

They named another assistant the interim coach, meaning they weren't sold on Coach Mac yet, even if he wanted it. I imagine that Tulane's budget will give him a nice bump in pay.

Coach Mac maintained his position as Associate Head Coach with the move to Tulane with Coach Hunter. It's a huge rebuilding job in a tough conference, as the Green Wave went 0-18 last season. Today, the team landed a couple of grad transfers in KJ Lawson (formerly of Kansas and Memphis) and Christion Thompson (Rhode Island). Lawson should help; he was a 12 point per game scorer in his one season under Tubby Smith at Memphis. He transferred to Kansas with his brother and was immediately buried on the bench. I think he has two years of eligibility left. Thompson averaged 6 points and 4 rebounds per game as a 6-4 guard with the Rams. His shooting numbers aren't good, but he adds experience and backcourt size to a team that needs both.
Tulane also added a transfer from Georgia who sits out this year and a trio of high school players in the class of 2019.
Good luck, Coach.

Tulane had a couple of nice pick ups for the class of 2020 over the past two days as Sion James and Jalen Coleman committed to the Green Wave. James is from Georgia and Coleman is from Alabama. From reactions on social media, both of these are good pick ups for Coach Hunter and Coach Mac as they try to rebuild that program.

Coach Hunter and Coach Mac going to the transfer route for a quick turnaround of the program.
From Jon Rothstein:
"Tulane's Teshaun Hightower (Georgia) and Ibby Ali (Arkansas) have both received waivers from the NCAA and are immediately eligible for the 2019-20, per Ron Hunter. Green Wave will start five power conference transfers in 19-20."

Coach Mac taking part in a "coffee with the coaching staff" type of event at Tulane. Probably going to be a long year for the Green Wave, with most publications picking them last in the AAC.

Congrats to Coach Ray and the Tulane Green Wave on their upset win over Utah today. Tulane was picked to finish last in the AAC and are coming off a 4-27, 0-18 season. They currently sit at 5-1, with their only loss coming from Mississippi State. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=401182612

Got a chance to watch Tulane this weekend as they scored a comeback win on the road against UCF. Tulane has already tripled their win total from last year and is 4-11 in conference after going 0-18 in league play last year. They are still stuck in last place in the AAC, but they have wins over Cincinnati, SMU, and Temple. They are getting good support from the Green Wave fans.

I’m so used to seeing him without hair that it looks in this picture like he borrowed one of Kampe’s lid’s. His contract with us should have been renewed. The lack of continuity in our basketball programs has been damaging.

I miss him, he should have had a lifetime job here at the UDM
