detroittitans.com/news/2016/5/10/mens-basketball-titans-announce-roster-update.aspxThe University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team has announced that Paris Bass and Jalen Gibson will not return to the program next season. Both are now free to seek other playing opportunities. "At Detroit Mercy, we relentlessly strive to develop our athletes as 'students first,'" said head coach Bacari Alexander '99. "Within that framework of the student-athlete's welfare, our mission and vision, we are confident that this approach will assist us in building and sustaining our culture in the future. Both Paris and Jalen are fine young men who come from terrific hard working families and we wish them well in their future." The University considers the matter closed and will have no further comment on the two student-athletes.

Wow, that is big news. Obviously, Paris was our most gifted player (definitely in the top two) and his talent will be missed. His attitude and lack of commitment, not so much. I thought Gibson was a good developmental guy who had a relatively high ceiling had he stuck around for awhile.

Cannot agree with Corey Evans. Paris has a two year window remaining and if he sits out a transfer season, that only leaves one year of eligibility. To get to that point, a school has to contend with his academic and attitudial issues. I see Paris in Paris, France (or elsewhere).

I think Evans made that comment after just looking at Paris's stats for last season, not taking into account the whole picture.

I'm kinda new to this so forgive me if I did not post in the right area. Any idea where Paris Bass or Jalen Gibson could be headed?

From Twitter: Adam Troia @altroyhoops 4h4 hours ago Best wishes to P Bass as leaves for Italy Friday! ! Always a Warrior! ! Good luck to Paris Bass. I think the main problem with Bass is that he didn't like school. I know a few guys who were similar, one ended up being a truck driver, and the other a plumber. I hope Bass has a nice career overseas. It looks like he's playing or has played with a team in Austria. I am not sure what the teams provide in Austria, but in France and Italy the top leagues usually provide a nice apartment and either a BMW or a Mercedes. www.interperformances.com/basket/detail_player_a.php?id=1556

Paris Bass recently signed with CDP Domingo Paulino Santiago in the Dominican Republic. He's averaged 28.5 points and 15 rebounds. Last year in the Dominican League, he set a single game scoring record with 44 points for his then team, Titanes del Distrito Nacional (Capital District Titans).
