From the article: "EM: Which schools show interest that haven’t yet offered? RW: EMU, Akron, Northern Illinois, and UofD EM: Any visits lined up in the near future? RW: Going to visit U of D and Eastern sometime this fall. Just this past summer I went to Toledo and Akron. Then I went to Northern Illinois elite camp and got to see they’re campus a little bit . But that’s all I’m sure of right now." Wish he was visiting us. Who is this "U of D" of which he speaks? Dayton? Duquesne? Seriously, it's worth noting that Wade said U of D, and expected everyone to know who he was talking about. And the author expected everyone to know that U of D meant University of Detroit, so he didn't bother to clarify. That's a strong brand.

2019 G Jeremiah Francis from Pickerington Central high school in Ohio has been offered That doesn't surprise me. Pickerington is absolutely loaded this year, the best team in Ohio, and we've already been working on two of his teammates, 2018 SF Adrian Nelson and 2019 PF Cole Landis. Here's a note on Francis. www.270hoops.com/roster_players/12535686?subseason=301030. In addition to Francis and Landis, Pickerington has another sure-fire D-I player in the class of '19, combo guard Jevohn Garcia. Two other class of '19 guards on the team, Ethan Hazelrig and Jaidon Lipscomb, are also on D-I scouts radar. The team's center is Sterling Manning, a senior who has committed to North Carolina. Junior forward Jah Blevins is also a D-I player, and probably junior Juan Elmore, too.

Several recent compilations of pre-season Michigan All-State teams. Of course, what people predict as "All-State" is quite the same as "best prospect." For example, Steve Bell rates JJJ a first team all-stater and Greg Elliott 2nd team, but in the same piece calls Elliott "the best available senior" once Amauri Hardy commits at the end of this week. (I presume Elliott's size gives him a big advantage over Triple J as a prospect. Or maybe he assumes Triple J really is committed ;-)). Nonethless, I've gone through those various lists, sorting them out by order and class. So here would be the top sophomores in the state per various sources (commits in italics)
Detroit News: 1. Romeo Weems, 6-6 G-F, New Haven
Free Press 1. Terry Armstrong, 6-3 G, Davison 2. Romeo Weems, 6-6 G-F, New Haven 3. Mark "Rocket" Watts, 5-10 G, Redford Academy 4. Taylor Currie, 6-8 F, Clarkston
State Champs: 1. Romeo Weems, 6-6 G-F, New Haven 2. Terry Armstrong, 6-3 G, Davison 3. Mark "Rocket" Watts, 5-10 G, Redford Academy
Steve Bell (Bankhoops) Class A None
Class B: 1. Romeo Weems, 6-6 G/F, New Haven 2. Rocket Watts, 6-1 G, Old Redford Academy
Class C: 1. Caleb Hodgson, 6-9 F, Danville
Class D: 1. Harlond Beverly, 6-2 G, Southfield Christian 2-3. Caleb Hunter, 5-10 G, Southfield Christian 2-3. Noah Robak, 6-1 G, Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes
Prep Hoops Michigan Class B 1. Romeo Weems, 6-6 G/F, New Haven 2. Rocket Watts, 6-2 G, Old Redford Academy 3. Reece Castor, 6’4 G, Gladstone 4-5. Sean Cobb, 6’6 F, Williamston 4-5. Austin Braun, 5’10 PG, Grand Rapids Catholic Central

Jeremiah Francis is special, and should end up as a high major player. Other than Francis, the team is so deep that no one else really stood out. They are well coached, and play well together. Surprisingly, it was Sterling Manley who didn't impress me much, but maybe he just had a bad game.

Although I'm not sure of it, it appears that the Titans are recruiting Daniel Ramsey, a 6-8 PF from Georgia. He was offered by Kansas State this week, and he's just a soph--if he develops, he's going to be tough to land.

Rocket Watts has been offered by Mississippi State. Got a feeling we aren't getting him.

Rivals put out there latest Top 100 ranking of the class of 2019. Some Michigan guys made the list.
20. Romeo Weems, New Haven. I saw this kid play when he was a freshman. He was a support player on New Haven, but he showed some flashes.
50. Terry Armstrong, Davison. Back from a short detour to a down South prep school.
73. Rocket Watts, Detroit. I need to make plans to see this kid in person next season.
