Isaiah Jones is also from Antelope, CA. Hawkins has an older sister who plays hoops at Wiley College in Marshall, Tx.

Lots of 2020 and 2021 offers. Now we need 2018 and 2019 commits....as well as JUCO and grad transfers for our 2018-19 Titans.

I'm starting to think most of the players that are worth venturing a scholarship on are either gone or have a pretty good idea where they are headed. There might be a gem or two out there but the pickings are probably pretty slim. Nothing to do with the ability of Davis or his staff but more to the late period they got into the recruitment scene to convince players to come North rather than go South, and Houston to Detroit is a big switch. I just wonder if Davis has been put on the trail of Greg Egoigbodin?

Pickings are slim, but I'm still hoping we'll pick up a couple of guys from Tex So who I think could help us--incoming freshman Damon Harge, and Grad transfer Trayvon Reed. There are a few others out there who are still uncommitted and could help at our level, Greg Egg being an obvious example (though he'd have to sit this year). We've only got 7 scholarship players right now (assuming JJJ and Ballantyne do leave) and we'll need more than that.

Now that JJ has landed a position at a sports academy in Ohio, do you think that there is a chance that either JJjr or Ballantyne might remain at Detroit?

Now that JJ has landed a position at a sports academy in Ohio, do you think that there is a chance that either JJjr or Ballantyne might remain at Detroit? It would surprise me if JJ Jr. returned to Detroit. I wouldn't mind having him, but it seemed as if he only came to Detroit because he couldn't get a better offer that he was comfortable with. It's not like he committed and signed at the first opportunity. I could see JJ Jr. transferring to a mid major and then trying to transfer to a high major after a couple of years if he plays well. I certainly expect him to have a lot of mid major interest. Ballantyne is a different case. I imagine he will have some interest from D1 programs, but he didn't play well last year and didn't seem to be in good condition. He struggled on both ends of the floor. Depending on what interest is out there and whether or not he wants to stay home, I can see him wanting to return to the Titans. Of course, whether the staff considers him a good use of a scholarship based on what else is out there is obviously another major consideration.

The new Texas Southern coach can talk up the fact that he has coached future pros and use that to try to get Reed to hang around. My guess is that Reed either goes high major or stays at Tex Southern, UNLESS he just really likes Mike Davis. (He should; Davis took a chance on him after Reed had some serious issues at Maryland.) I'd love to have Reed as a Titan. Every summer, as it gets closer to the Fall, we see more players hit the market. Some are grad transfers who completed their graduation requirements in summer school. Others are high school kids waiting on NCAA approval of classes or test scores. We'll probably see some new names pop up for 2018.

From late June on Peake: Mike Peake, 6’7, F, 2020, Northeast Peake might be one of the KC area’s biggest risers this offseason as he combines a well-rounded skill set with size and elite athleticism. He has improved his ball handling, shooting and perimeter, and combines those skills with a strong post game and the ability to score in the paint. www.prephoops.com/2018/06/top-risers-in-kc-forwards/

Merely stealing from Verbal Commits...http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/demarius-splunge Has reported offers from TCU, Depaul, and Ok State. That's good company indeed for our Titans, especially for him to be excited for the offer and to announce it on socials.
We keep offering non-Michigan players, I suspect continuing to capitalize on Coach's deep contacts across the country more than anything else and perhaps as a result of not fully seeing the scene here in MI. Plus, as someone else noted, we don't often see players with tweets confirming they still have an offer from a school.

We'll eventually offer more Michigan players, but I think people who think we need an all-local lineup are going to be disappointed.

Illinois Spotlight, a professional scouting service, ranks Splunge #11 in Illinois's Class of 2020.
