Indy. He's talking about ray jr. If I were ad I'd be trying to sign a three year deal with senior. Senior likely isn't going anywhere.
Kirky. The kids @ the end of the bench are as important as the kids starting. It takes 15 players to make a team. The more talented the better. I don't want any of our scholarship players to leave. They matter.

mac, indy i don't want to be offensive by disagreeing with you but this is d1 basketball... i have the power conference mindset that if you can't hang theres the door... i agree that you need 15 good players for practice but if you can move a few guys loose to make room to make the program better in the future then you do it and you don't ask questions.

Good programs recruit and then develop their athletes. Some will always leave for a variety of rerasons good and bad. No self respecting program encourages turnover.

Nebraska lost out yesterday on big man Matthew Atewe, and the word is that Tummala is now their top single target. Said likely to schedule official visit to Nebraska next week. Apparently Atewe's final 4 choices, including Nebraska and Auburn (where he committed), included Nevada, too - where AJ West completed his official visit. So they are probably redoubling efforts on West.

I'm glad Nevada got him he sounded like an airhead to me. I was really worried we might end up with him. I am not a big fan of guys who commit ad uncommit. His moves were not any better than Lipperts and he probably was not as good a student or player. I couldn't figure out why we needed another big sitting on the bench. Thank you Nevada.

I would have loved to sign him. Sure, he seemed a bit indecisive, but I have learned not to judge people by their twitter accounts. He looked ALOT better than Lippert to me. Lippert averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds per game his last season in Juco, West got 11 points, nine rebounds, and 5 blocks this year. I didn't see video of Lippert from the Juco days, but West on video looked active and agile, and showed some good hands around the basket. I certainly don't think we have enough information to say what kind of student West would be, especially in comparison to Lippert.

I don't like coaches to rescind scholarships to players, but I also don't mind players transferring if they are unhappy with playing time or feel they would be more effective in a different environment.

When it was first posted that we had an interest in West someone posted that he had committed before and backed out the last second. I think it was more than once. Kind of reminded me of the recruit at the end of the signing period last year that was coming here but couldn't spell Detroit and when you read his twitter it sounded more like he wanted to be a gangster rather than a Titan team member. Lipperts numbers his last year at juco were tainted due to coming off of an injury. I am not sure he is all the way back yet. I did look at everything I could find on West and it is not sour grapes. I for one am glad he is not here. Didn't look like he could elevate and at 6'9" he could barely dunk. I think his numbers were inflated against inferior competition. I think the offer here should have been are you coming or the offer is off the table. I was going to state that a couple of weeks ago but there was so much going on the board and I new someone would poo-hoo it. e wasted 3000 but it would be a lot more if we signed him. He should have jumped at our offer. No need to hold this guys hand. Lets see if I am right.

He should have jumped at our offer. No need to hold this guys hand. Lets see if I am right. UP, I guess I just don't see the reason for all your negativity towards the kid. West wasn't the recruit who misspelled Detroit and sent a bunch of tweets that made you think the author wanted to be a gangster, but he "reminds" you of that recruit, so you're holding that against him? He played at a Division 1 JC and had a lot of teams after him. I don't see the concern about him padding stats against inferior competition. And as far as his elevation goes what I saw of him on video and his rebounding and blocked shot stats make me think his physical abilities are just fine. Also, Detroit's program is not on the level where we can tell highly recruited players to "take it or leave it" when it comes to a scholarship offer. Particularly when a well run program like Nevada, which is obviously making good decisions, is after him. And do we really want to have that kind of rep, as a school that makes unreasonable demands on potential recruits? Maybe the kid will flop at Nevada. He's not a Detroit, DePaul, or MSU, so I probably won't be paying much attention to him in the future. But as thin as we are up front, I would have welcomed him signing. I hadn't heard before about Lippert's juco season being impacted by injury. Can you expand on that at all? When the injury happened, how serious it was, etc?
