TJ reports that the Titans have finally gotten in to the Josh McFolly sweepstakes. At the same time, he reports that Ingram is looking less likely, and the Titans have stepped up recruiting of DeLeon Brown. There's no guard in the Titan class of '14, and I'd guess they don't want to go to straight years without adding anyone in the backcourt.
Updated the list to add Josh, who has a reputation as a top shooter, which was a big Titan weakness last year.

AJ Turner has verbally committed to Boston College. Ironically, BC was one of the schools that had offered Turner a scholarship before he headed out of state for prep school.

Michael Edwards tweets that UD watched him at open gym this week, so the Titans apparently still have interest there (of course, they may have been there primarily to scout others). Edwards picked up an offer from Ball State after that open gym.

Edwards picked up an offer from Ball State after that open gym. I'm glad to hear that. I like what I've seen of Edwards. Granted, you don't get much out of a "workout tape", but he appears to be athletic and mobile. He's listed at 6-9, 225, which gives him good size for a freshman coming into the center spot in the HL. As with DaRohn Scott last year, I'd like to see Edwards in the program for four years. Commish, do you know the rules for these "open gym" sessions? Can the coaches speak with the recruits directly, or are they just there to observe? Thanks.

Updated the list to add Josh, who has a reputation as a top shooter, which was a big Titan weakness last year. I was looking at the Lindy's High School ratings in their college basketball preview issue, and they have Josh McFolly ranked at number #91 in the top 100 players in the class of 2015. Nationwide. That's the only place where I have seen him ranked like that. Rivals has a profile on him, but did not rate him. He did pick up some good press over the spring and summer, however. If we aren't in the mix for Ingram anymore, McFolly would seem to be a very solid guard to add to the class of 2015. nextuprecruits.com/2014/05/26/sweet-shooting-josh-mcfolley-gaining-national-attention/sports.yahoo.com/arizona/basketball/recruiting/player-Josh-McFolley-164382

Another name to remember (from 2 years ago) is Lorenzo Bonam. Now a sophomore at Gillette College, I believe he was selected by the Sporting News, in their College Basketball preview issue, as 3rd team all JUCO for this upcoming season. Although I would prefer a High School guard over a JUCO almost every time, he could be a fall back option, especially considering we thought he was coming here out of high school for a brief period in time.

TJ, we've known each other too long. I was going to post today that the Sporting News JUCO report listed Bonam as preseason fourth team All American. I'm with you: Ideally I'd like to get a high school guard in the class of 2015, but Bonam is certainly a guy worth considering. As I recall, he was very excited about his Titan commitment on social media.

Can the coaches speak with the recruits directly, or are they just there to observe? Thanks. This is currently a recruiting period, which means that coaches can contact and watch students. If I understand correctly -and I'm not sure I do, maybe TJ knows - an open gym has to be sanctioned by the high school. I believe, since it is a "recruiting" period (started 9/12, through early November) that the coach can also speak to (i.e. contact) the player. You only get a total of 7 combined contacts/evaluations, and it's not clear to me if watching the kid at open gym (an evaluation) and then also speaking (a contact) counts as 2 of those 7, or if you can consider them 1 of the 7 - I think it counts as two, since contacts and evals are considered different things. The rules are byzantine to say the least - beyond comprehension of ordinary men. But if it counts as two, I can see where a coach would decide to save the contact for later. The players know who's watching, though.

I don't know if we ever offered Ypsilanti Lincoln's Devin Haygood, but it's worth noting that he committed to Youngstown State today. He is, of course, a teammate of Detroit 2016 recruit Ty Groce.
Surprised to see Haygood sign early at an HL school. He must have improved a lot over the Spring and Summer.

Connor Cashaw recently took official visits to Rice and Harvard. Haven't heard anything about Detroit after him lately, and suspect he's off our list. Good player, and apparently a smart kid, too. He'd be a nice catch.
