Of course, some of these guys haven't actually committed elsewhere yet, but look at the transfers out of the HL this year so far:
Detroit Corey Allen: 2017 Conference freshman of the year; second on the team in scoring and assists, 3rd in rebounds. 8th in Conference in scoring. Josh McFolley: 3rd on team in scoring Probably losing: Kam Chatman: 2nd team all-conference; led team in scoring and rebounding. 3rd in Conference in scoring, 4th in rebounding, 2d in 3 point %. Jermaine Jackson, Jr.: All freshman team. 1st on team in assists, 4th in scoring. Other candidates include Tariq Jones, Ballantyne, and Eichler.
Cleveland State Dontel Highsmith: averaged 19.5 minutes per game. Evan Clayborne: averaged 10 minutes per game as freshman.
Green Bay Unscathed
IUPUI TJ Henderson: 2nd on team in points and assists per game.
Milwaukee Brock Stull: 1st on team in assists, 2nd on team in scoring and 3 point shooting, third in rebounding. Jeremiah Bell: led team in scoring and 3 point shooting. Bryce Nze: 1st on team in rebounding, 3rd in scoring. 3rd in League in rebounding. August Haas: 2nd on team in assists. UIC Dikembe Dixson (for pros overseas); freshman of the year in 2016; UIC's leading scorer. rumored that Dominique Mathews will transfer, but nothing yet. Rotation player.

Dixson's going pro. But still another good player leaving the league early.

Add Oakland's Isaiah Brock to the list. Two time All-Defensive team player, OU's leader in rebounds (5th in league) and blocks (10th in the nation, 2nd in league) last year. Oakland now loses its top 5 scorers and top 4 rebounders from last season.

Here's an odd one: IUPUI's TJ Henderson transferred to D-II Marian University. Last year Henderson was second on IUPUI with 10.8 ppg and 2.1 apg, and shot a very credible 35.7% from three. His PT wasn't being reduced or anything late in the year. Marian University is 3 miles away from IUPUI, so it's not like he was transferring to be with family or something.
That's two legit returning starters--Henderson and OU's Brock--who have just up and left for D-II schools even though nothing suggests they would not have been key players on their teams in 2018-19. No coaching changes or anything like that, either. I get it with Brock, which I've written about before. Don't know what's up with Henderson.

We should soon start hearing about any transfers out of the league. In several recent years (less so last year) the league has been hit hard by transfers out and early defections. (Note that when I say "less so last year," the league still lost two second team all-conference players (Milwaukee's Jeremiah Bell and our Kam Chatman) an all frosh player (JJJ), and some other good players, such as Corey Allen, Brock Stull, and Bryce Nze).
This year, the Player of the Year (Northern Kentucky's Drew McDonald) graduates, as does Green Bay's Sandy Cohen (likely runner up for that honor, although they don't post those results). But the other 8 players on the all-conference teams are back. Will any leave?
Note that Xavier Hill-Maas (Oakland, 1st team), Wright State's Billy Wampler (2d team), and IUPUI's Cameron Justice (2d team) are probable grad transfers with immediate eligibility. Hill-Maas would be attractive to a P5 team looking to boost its front court, and Justice and Wampler to one that wants some 3 point shooting.
Also graduating are 3 of the 5 members of the all-defensive team, Defensive POY DJ McCall of IUPUI, and Wright State's Parker Ernsthausen and Mark Hughes. (I'm still scratching my head a bit over the Ernsthausen selection, but OK).
I don't see anyone on the teams turning pro early, and I don't know of anyone likely to transfer. But it certainly isn't far-fetched that someone like Tyree Appleby (CSU, 2d team) could also decide to look for greener pastures while he still has 2 years of eligibility.
If the conference is going to improve, it would help to hold our top players.

Those high major pastors sure can look green to a mid major player, especially when the HM coach is promising the world.

Jevon Smith from Green Bay has joined the list. Not surprising. Smith started the year in the starting lineup but only played in 3 games after Christmas.

James Beck of Oakland has joined the list. Beck is interesting. He was, I thought (and not alone) a very good recruit for OU. In his first 4 college games, he had 9 points and 5 rebounds against Fort Wayne, 8/7 vs. New Orleans, 11/10 vs. Toledo, and 8/5 vs. Syracuse. But then he had a series of nagging injuries that limited his effectiveness. Though back this year, he never seemed quite as good. He's another guy (not surprising) whose PT dropped--after mid-January he didn't play 20 minutes in a game, and over the final six games he averaged just 7.5 minutes. It will be interesting to see where he lands.

According to Tony Paul, Stan Scott is also transferring out from Oakland. TP writes that Scott is likely going D-2.
3/20: confirmed by verbalcommits.
