I think a lot of what is missing in his game could be solved by coaching if he isn't ruined and is willing to listen. I think who ever put his film together was thinking that the P in PG was to get points for yourself and guard wasn't meant in defensive terms but to guard against your teammates putting up a shot.

JJ poaches 2 Detroit HS players to Spire Academy in Ohio (& at least two more BIG fish will be going) - Detroit Loyola Senior Myron Gardner and Detroit Old Redford Junior Aundre Polk

Ballantyne looks like he has been working this summer, lost some weight and it's just the towel around his neck or the haircut.

Not that we were in the realistic picture to land one of these transfers, but I wonder what the odds of JJ Sr sending players our way is...

I wonder how much BA and Chatman held him back. JJ looks like he will have a better recruiting class at Spire than he had in two years at UD. I thought we had an offer out to Gardner while JJ was here.

For JJJ and Jack, who have used one year of eligibility, would they be able to spend time at SPIRE?

Spire looks and sounds like a IMG Light.
And as we talked about in another thread, these prep academies (such as Lumiere in Indiana) aren't always the best move for kids to raise their stock, develop as players, or heck most importantly develop as young men. But the adults in the room are running these places and have livelihoods dependent on bringing kids in from out of state. It just doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies.

The clock is running on JJJ and Jack as far as their 5yr window is concerned. Maybe they were just hanging out at the Spire until the offers roll in.

I would say the answer is "no" since they've played D1 College basketball already. BTW, I noticed Kent St posted a job opening - a part time director of basketball player development. Not that JJ would be interested, but my 1st guess for JJ Jr and Jack was Kent St (if they attend a D1 school in 2018-19)..... hoopdirt.com/job/director-basketball-player-development-kent-state-university/

It would be a convenient place to work out on the court since JJ Sr is the head coach and has access to the Gym (& if they end up going to college fairly close by)

I thought we had an offer out to Gardner while JJ was here. I agree. Between the two, I preferred JJ in 2016 because I thought he would be a kick ass recruiter. Later I also thought, in his brief stint as interim, that he looked like a better game coach--he seemed to have a better sense of the flow of the game and when to adjust tactics or personnel on the floor. Of course, we'll never know what he might have done. And one of the problems with hiring old legends is that most coaches get fired eventually, which doesn't necessarily mean bad blood but almost certainly takes a little sheen off rose (if I can mix several metaphors there). Can't see that it's likely that JJ will be sending recruits our way.

JJSR. was most definitely a better in game tactician than Alexander, although we only have a small sample size, in my opinion he was a better tactician than coach McCallum. As far as JJSR. sending recruits our way, I highly doubt that will happen.
