Going by the UDM calendar, classes started today. Not sure how many students we have lurking on this board (where have you gone Kirky, besides the real world?)
JJJ still has his main twitter pictures of him in UDM gear. No recent tweets indicating much of anything, nor any notable follows or post likes. He has gained some followers by some Juco coaches it appears including Daytona State and others. That is indeed Daytona (FL), and not Dayton (OH) for anyone trying to link him to somewhere near Spire Academy and Dad. Ergo, no real twitter intel to be found from his or JB's accounts.
As the world turns...

As the world turns... At UofM,MSU, and Wayne State, most students have e-mail addresses and we would be able to see who is enrolled and possibly on the roster via a simple email search. I asked a few years ago and Kirky stated that UDM didnt have the same type of email system. We should have answers to all our questions after labor day.

They’re both gone. JUCO for a year (not to play basketball, just to take classes), and then be immediately eligible for 3 years at D1. Assuming they are doing this because their stock is low and 3 years of scholarship is much more attractive than 4.

Was the idea of not playing in Detroit that much more attractive than playing for Davis one year (after which they still could have transferred)?

Assuming they are doing this because their stock is low and 3 years of scholarship is much more attractive than 4. Not doubting you 03 but this confirmed? and where are they off to? To me...this is a terrible decision by these 2 young men if they do indeed go this route and take a full year off of playing ball. I just can't see how that advances their prospects, their status, their desirability by coaches/schools. Sure, guys sit out a year sometimes for different reasons (getting kicked out of a program, transferring, etc). But they are typically SOMEWHERE playing ball, at least in practice with their new teams. Not sure who would be advising them to take this route as the best course of action. It just speaks to being a huge, huge mistake. JB seemed to have a future as a solid 6th man in his Jr/Sr year - that was probably his ceiling. I've got to think that ceiling is now lowered. JJJ arguably had prospects to play pro overseas. And while I can't throw that out the window now (there are a lot of leagues/teams afterall, its a big world), his ceiling is adjusted downward from this as well. That Auburn or Colorado offer or another Power 5 conference offer is not around the corner. It will be a flyer by a mid/low major for him to come in and earn his way. Or so that is 1 man's opinion.

Hmmm. I am in agreement with TTH and Commish about the "enroll at JUCO/don't play basketball" plan. Seems like a strange path to take. Not sure what the benefits are. Sitting out a year of basketball doesn't seem like a good move.
Part of me wonders if they already have a D1 destination locked in (wink, wink) for 2019-20, but the program doesn't have scholarships available for this coming season. Even that situation seems risky, as you are putting all your eggs in one basket.

It seems to be the only way a strategy of sitting out this year at a JUCO makes sense. Otherwise, both players risk falling into the "out of sight/out of mind" category next season.

Just read on Twitter that Jack B is transferring to LIU-Brooklyn. That's really interesting. Long Island has been recruiting Michigan pretty heavily the last year and a half, and had a commitment this year from Gary Solomon, who later decided to go the prep route instead (I suspect he did not qualify). Apparently the connection is Marlon Williamson, a Cass Tech grad (Youngstown State for college) who joined their staff before last season. He coached The Family, a top Michigan AAU team, from 2004-2012. As a further Motown connection--well, sort of--LIU also has an assistant coach named Jimmy Mack. No word on when he'll be comin' back.

As a Brooklyn native and resident from 1948-1992, I welcome Jack on your behalf.

Just read on Twitter that Jack B is transferring to LIU-Brooklyn. BTW, as a transfer, Jack would have to sit out a two semesters. My understanding is that in order for a semester to count toward the year, you have to be enrolled by the 12th day of classes. At LIU, it appears that that was September 20. Maybe Jack enrolled by then; maybe I've got that wrong. Obviously it's on him and LIU, but I noticed that.

Just read on Twitter that Jack B is transferring to LIU-Brooklyn. Interesting choice for JB. Coach Davis stated that he would not cut any players from the previous team that wanted to stay. Why not play another year at home? I am pretty sure LIU-Brooklyn would have found a scholarship for him next season. I assume that JB might have over estimated his value on the transfer market.

Solid point RBJ. I didn't really anticipate him going to a mid-major or MAC school, comparable to the ones that were sniffing around him during his high school days.
And now we wait and see where JJJ is off to, if anywhere, this year.
