Just read on Twitter that Jack B is transferring to LIU-Brooklyn. Interesting choice for JB. Coach Davis stated that he would not cut any players from the previous team that wanted to stay. Why not play another year at home? I am pretty sure LIU-Brooklyn would have found a scholarship for him next season. I assume that JB might have over estimated his value on the transfer market. Could be. Someone overestimated something, apparently. I can't imagine that LIU-B was the destination that JB had in mind. Personally, playing in front of family and friends for a coach with a history of taking teams to the tournament would have been my choice, but I don't know what factored into his decision. Jack's stock certainly fell over the course of a year. Video on him from last season can't look good. Desirable destination programs weren't going to be lining up to offer him a scholarship. As for JJ Jr., I wonder what the hold up is with him. Is he enrolled somewhere? Is he going to go the predicted "enroll at a JUCO but don't play" route? Kind of strange that on the 2nd of October his status is unknown. I actually thought he would gather a fair amount of MAC level interest.

Interesting not from Twitter, particularly against the backdrop of the recent college basketball related court case.

Rumors are that 1st year HC Jermaine Jackson Sr. is in active contract negotiations with Adidas for a contract worth 7 figures to be the official outfitter of the @spire_Institute athletics program. Would be major for what they are building on the prep scene in the Midwest.

This whole prep school thing is so silly. It's basically free agency for high schools for a year or two and outside of the traditional state high school structures. It also feels like you have a bunch of adults turning this into quite the for-profit enterprise to enrich themselves at the expense of the long term interest of the kids.
Perhaps I'm too idealistic for 'the way things were'. You go to high school for 4 years, you mess around and have fun with friends, you grow up a bit, and then you launch into the world and head to college at the end of it. Being 15 or 16 and bouncing around the country to different 'schools' in the sole pursuit of bettering your athletic outlook doesn't seem like an optimal way to grow up as a person. But hey, let JJ get his big money deal from Adidas for doing this. Bleh.

So questions: How well would JJ have recruited if he'd been head coach? And would he have kept the program clean in doing so?

LaMelo Ball somehow gets his high school eligibility back and will play at Spire under the tutelage of JJ.

From Brian Snow on Twitter:
The only remotely interesting thing about this LaMelo Ball move is he's on a team with tough and talented Detroit kids. They arent going to stand for Ball family shenanigans shooting 30 times per game from 30 feet.

So, to the original point of the thread: Where did Jermaine Jackson Jr. end up?? It seems it continues to be a complete mystery. JJJ's twitter and instagram leave zero clear clues where he is at or what he's up to. In recent posts its mostly about him wearing the latest 'Chase the League' gear. I don't know what League he is specifically referring to at this time. Reckless speculation...Is there any way that JJ Sr is okay that Jr is a complete free agent right now, and perhaps hoping that he could land a head coaching gig somewhere in NCAA and bring Jr as a package? Running Spire can't be a long term, 20 year move for Sr, at least I don't think. (I also don't know how valuable their package deal is either for a school, I suspect its fallen off a cliff from 2 years ago when Jr was still in HS)

JJ had been my choice (at least of the people we seemed to have looked at) for HC two years ago, for much the reasons you say, Mac. But oh, the drama.

Although I think it is more likely that JJ leverages one of the better players on that Spire squad for an assistant coach opportunity. Like you said, the JJ/JJJ package has lost some luster. Weird that Junior isn't playing somewhere. Maybe he is taking classes at a JUCO and sitting out this year of basketball.
