My bad, they each start with A. And are in the SEC. If AD did have to sit out or they weren’t confident they could get a waiver, I could see them staying. The longer we go without a signing, the more I think this rumor has some legs. You can't announce a signing before the signing period begins. A player can announce his verbal commitment. But that commitment is not binding. If you recall last summer, several players announced their verbal commitments to us in July; but their signings were not announced until late August or September. This year, the NLI signing period is April 17 to May 15. So, we're about 3 weeks away from when we can sign players. We're simply in a rumor period now where reporters, bloggers, & tweeters are trying to guess who might be the next coach at the two SEC schools, Alabama and Arkansas. Apart from the Pitino prank perpetrated here last year, recall how many other allegedly real sources reported absolutely false information about the status of our coaching search - from Andre Lefleur to the guy at U of Indianapolis to Tony Barbee. The mole correctly points out last year's rumor about Sampson "in the mix" for the Orlando Magic job - until he wasn't. Sampson will turn 64 years old later this year. Would he want to take on a rebuild at any Power school when his Houston teams have been every bit as good as any mid-level power conference team? He's got his Cougars to the Sweet 16 this year. When you have a coach of Mike Davis' stature, his name frequently will appear in media discussions about possible candidates for a job at a bigger school.

Thanks, PTC. I was just going to post the same thing about the signing period. And, regarding the walk-on transfer thing - the NCAA is considering a few rule changes. One of those being granting walk-ons immediate transfer ability. But that won’t come until April at the earliest and probably wouldn’t apply until 2020.
It’s more likely Tony Paul is getting punked again than Davis already has some agreement with Houston.

Mole, this rumor is from the same person who had BA to UDM in November of 2015... I hope it’s not true. Also.. the rumor about ol’ Tricky rick was me messing with tony..one of our lacrosse players tweeted it, and I made it public.

Houston is about to sign a deal with Sampson to keep him. I suppose the athletic director at UH will have to call Mike Davis and tell him the deal they agreed to during the HL tourney is off.

AP released its All-America teams today. I was hoping Antoine might get Honorable Mention, but he did not. Drew McDonald of Northern Kentucky got Honorable Mention.
Several mid-major players got recognition, including Murray State's Ja Morant, first team (along with Zion, Cassius, RJ Barrett, and Grant Williams). Most of them I know little about, but several don't have core stats as impressive as AD's and/or play in weaker leagues. Honorable Mentions to:
Keith Braxton, St. Francis (Pa) (16.0 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 3.8 apg) Tookie Brown, Georgia Southern (17.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 4.7 apg) Chris Clemons, Campbell (30.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg, nation's leading scorer, #2 all-time NCAA scorer) RJ Cole, Howard (21.4 ppg, 6.4 apg) Jeremy Combs, Texas Southern (17.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg) Mike Daum, South Dakota State (25.3 ppg, 11.7 rpg; #6 all time NCAA scorer) Jordan Davis, Northern Colorado (23.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 4.7 apg) Cameron Delaney, Sam Houston State (13.4 ppg, 5.5 rpg) Lamine Diane, Cal State Northridge (24.8 ppg, 11.2 rpg) Jon Axel Gudmundsson, Davidson (16.9 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 4.8 apg) Rapolas Ivanauskas, Colgate (15.9 ppg, 7.8 rpg) Anthony Lamb, Vermont (21.2 ppg, 7.8 rpg) Fletcher Magee, Wofford (20.5 ppg, all time NCAA 3 point leader) Caleb Martin, Nevada (19.2 ppg, 5.1 rpg) CJ Massinburg, Buffalo (18.2 ppg, 6.5 rpg) Garrison Mathews, Lipscomb, (20.7 ppg, 5.4 rpg) Drew McDonald, Northern Kentucky (18.7 ppg, 9.4 rpg) Sam Merrill, Utah State (20.9 ppg, 4.2 apg) Miye Oni, Yale (17.1 ppg, 6.3 rpg; B.J. Stith, Old Dominion (16.8 ppg, 7.5 rpg) Jake Toolson, Utah Valley (15.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg) Marques Townes, Loyola of Chicago (15.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg) Justin Wright-Foreman, Hofstra (27.1 ppg, 2nd in nation in scoring) Cameron Young, Quinnipiac (23.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg).
Another mid-major I noticed not on the list was Belmont's Dylan Windler (21.3 ppg, 10.8 rpg), whom I have seen on the telly and who is very good.

Braden Norris, the freshman guard from Oakland, is 5-10, averaged 8 points per game, and is being recruited by Notre Dame after declaring his intention to transfer. In this kind of environment, what kind of interest would AD be betting if he entered the transfer portal? I can only imagine. I'm glad he's the coach's son and appears to want to stick around for at least a while.

A tweet from AD - he must be reading some of the negative stuff some of the opposing (NKU & Oakland) fans are posting about us.
