We have now entered the Mean Season, that stretch from early April to November during which no official college basketball games will be played. To get through this stretch, I have many classic games from the 80s saved on the DVR, and will keep my eye out for more showing up on ESPN Classic. I also thought it would be a good idea to have a thread to track national rankings and projections, to give us something to talk about as the months drag on.
Here's the first entry, Jon Rothstein's Early Top 25:
1. Michigan State 2. Michigan 3. UVA 4. Kentucky 5. Duke 6. Auburn 7. Marquette 8. North Carolina 9. Kansas 10. Louisville 11. Maryland 12. Houston 13. LSU 14. Gonzaga 15. Iowa 16. Baylor 17. Cincinnati 18. Florida State 19. Arizona 20. Purdue 21. Oregon 22. Seton Hall 23. Florida 24. Nova 25. Texas Tech
My first thoughts: Marquette, Michigan and LSU are too high. Nova is too low.

UNC at #20 in USA today makes MUCH more sense than at #8 in the Reuthstein rankings.
Duke at #5 in both also feels too high given all the departures they are going to have, plus the influx of talent in this year's class isn't as great as the Zion led class.

Jason McIntyre of Fox Sports has this way too early Top Ten. It has the feel of one he put together for the express purpose of getting people talking about it due to his...unusual picks.
1. Michigan State 2. Virginia 3. Duke 4. Ohio State 5. Kentucky 6. Maryland 7. Memphis 8. Marquette 9. Utah State 10. Villanova

Nice match up for an early season exhibition game in October, per Twitter.
"Sources: Villanova will play USC in a Charity Exhibition at the Galen Center on October 18th."
