My guess, as a true soph he's just not ready to handle significant noncon playing time... let alone a grueling regular season in the Horizon. Would be nice if he was ready as we need a PG who excels at facilitating to get some minutes. McAdoo was supposed to be that guy I think, but he's a fan of shooting the rock also.

I forgot he was on the team. LOL. When you run a program based on transfers like this, a commit out of HS like LeGreair has to compete with guys 3 or 4 years older. Guys that are older, stronger, and have D1 playing experience.

I think that if as a sophomore a player can't get any playing time--literally any--it's unlikely that he will ever emerge as more than a back end of the rotation guy. I can see that in the last three losses, the Titans at least thought they had a shot, and didn't want to go to the end of the bench; and in the 40 point blow out at Wyoming, they might be thinking, "gotta keep the rotation guys in there, help them get to know one another." Still, Kyle has played in just 2 of 26 games since joining the Titans, for a total of 2 minutes. I'd love to see him contribute, and I hope he does, but in all honesty, at this point I don't see it. I can envision a transfer to Wayne State at year end. Love to be proven wrong.

I hope this isn’t another Pink story. LeGreair was cat quick in HS and part of the best guard combo in the state.

Agreed that McAdoo, although a PG by definition, looks to shoot more than his dad did, and is really another combo guard like AD. McAdoo can shoot and when open for a catch-and-shoot I'm fine with that. But he also tends to create/force ala AD. When he drives, we need guys moving into passing lanes.
Seems like the days of a true PG are history, but I also would love to see LeGreair play a few minutes during quality time (or any time, really) and see if he can facilitate -- see if it changes our offensive scheme. It would only have impact on the game, however, if he was allowed/encouraged to be the primary ballhandler. But, the coaches see them in practice every day and know who is playing the best.

I hope this isn’t another Pink story. LeGreair was cat quick in HS and part of the best guard combo in the state. He was the Robin in that duo, as opposed to Batman. That said, he excelled at getting the ball upcourt quickly, passing, defense... all good things. I don't think it would hurt mitch to see what he looks like during non-mop up duty. I questioned him as a D1 player originally, but that doesn't mean I want to see him transfer with zero meaningful minutes under his belt.

I've been encouraged by the play we've seen from Kyle lately. He's playing tough defense, and giving quality minutes. In the past five games he's played 76 minutes and he has only committed three turnovers during that time. He balanced those turnovers out with three steals and also had nine assists in that stretch. He's not scoring much, but that's fine. He's performing well in his role and I look forward to seeing him improve in the coming seasons.

Agreed, and he appears a lot more confident on the floor. I like that he’s a Detroiter as well. It would be nice to have a few more as well.

I would like to see Kyle shoot a bit more often.
I like a player who realizes his limits and doesn't try to do things during a game that aren't his strengths, and I also like a point guard who looks to pass first. But I think Kyle is passing up too many open shots, including a couple of wide-open threes in recent games (and I notice Earl, whose judgment is almost certainly better than mine, has been saying the same thing--"he's gotta take that shot.").
Nothing in Kyle's record at UofD suggests that he is a particularly poor shooter. For his career he's shooting 61% from the floor (22-36). A small sample, yes, and his percentages are inflated because he's only shooting when he's got a really good shot. Still, that's pretty darn good. And from 3, while the sample size is so small as to be almost meaningless, he's a career 4 for 5, which certainly doesn't suggest that he should be passing up the open 3. With AD and Liddell graduating (and Stone at best a big question mark on returning) we're going to need scoring next year, and I hope Kyle will step up that aspect of his game. Again, the samples are small, but certainly suggest that he's capable.

I think it's difficult to step up and shoot much when the go-to guy is AD, next year should be better for him.

By not shooting when he is wide open this year, he makes it much easier to double AD or someone else. The opposition ignores him as a shooter and collapses the defense and or doubles at will. He has to keep them honest. He is shooting a little more often, but more would be better.

He's only shooting more often because it's nearly mathematically impossible to shoot less often. He has 36 career field goal attempts in 49 career games. About 3/4 of a shot per game. About 1 shot for every 15 minutes he's on the floor.
I suggest we dont count on anything major from Kyle on the offensive side of the ball next year either.

Kyle played through a shoulder injury from last January-March. Successful surgery to repair the damage.
