Passing along a reminder that we are just one week away from the 2019 Titan Athletics golf outing being held on Monday, August 5, at Fox Hills in Plymouth. It is my understanding that the event will be played on the Golden Fox course and spaces are still available. Non-golfers can register for a dinner-only option. Athletic Director Robert Vowels along with basketball coaches Mike Davis and Bernard Scott are expected to speak at the event. To register or obtain more information, please click on following link: detroittitans.com/news/2019/4/24/general-registration-now-open-for-2019-titan-golf-outing.aspx

Post from other board.
RV stated that the process for instilling lights on Titan Field begins this Friday with a completion date of Mid September. The appeal for the NCAA ban will begin only after the two students who took last year off enroll in a 4 year school.
Coach Scott has 8 new players, 5 freshman and 3 transfers. He is hopeful all 3 transfers will become immediately eligible. Coach Davis says one of the wmnan could compete with the men.
Coach Davis says he has 4 players he is very close to signing. 3 scholarships available . Miller the La. Tech transfer will be eligible next season. Will receive paperwork next week. Calapari is a walk on. Still need 2 games to finalize the schedule. Willie is in great shape. Took 30,000 shots two weeks ago. AD at the Labron James camp. Working on playing Kentucky next year.

Here's hoping that the new walk-on coach's kid is as good as the walk-on coach's kid we got last season.

Some math:
If accurate that there are three remaining available scholarships, that means we have 10 scholarships accounted for.
Five are returning players:
1. C. Brandon 2. W. isiani 3. B. Nguidjol 4. M. Moore 5. H. Curry
Two incoming players I’ve seen on campus:
6. A. LaGrand 7. J. Pink
Another incoming player mentioned today:
8. J. Miller
Walk-ons are:
A. Davis D. Riley B. Calipari
Which means two additional scholarships are allocated already, but there are four in what I’ll call a speculation group previously discussed on this board:
B.J. Maxwell Sam Hofman D. Rose (another walk-on?) Mystery seven-footer
This analysis would seem to suggest that at least one person in this last group is not coming.

Are you sure the 3 scholarships doesn't relate to 2020 class? If Miller is eligible this year, then he, Curry, and Maxwell would use up their eligibility this year--3 scholarships.
I have at least some reason to believe that there is a mystery 7'0" player. Guess we'll know soon enough.

Sorry if I caused confusion to anybody.

So, trying to interpret the info, I believe this is where we stand:
1. C. Brandon
2. W. Isiani
3. B. Nguidjol
4. M. Moore
5. H. Curry
6. A. LeGrand
7. J. Pink
8. J. Miller
9. B.J. Maxwell
10. Sam Hofman
11. D. Rose (is on the team, but may be another walk-on?)
12.
13.
(#6-11 are new players who, through their twitter accounts, list themselves as a Detroit basketball commit; Detroit basketball, etc)
Walk-ons are:
A. Davis
D. Riley
B. Calipari
The key in my mind, are #12 and 13 (and possibly #11), which could take an OK recruiting class and make it a very good one (and could add needed height/rim protection and further depth to push this team closer to the top of a weak Horizon League).
In addition, the above scenario (with Rose as a walk on) could explain the 3 available scholarships statement & apply it to the class of 2019

That's very encouraging that there seems to be a path to the NCAA appeal. Both JB and JJJ show on twitter they are LIU-Brooklyn so thats encouraging. I guess we won't know anything for sure for another 3 weeks or so. I suspect that is the new date we will know about the rounding out of the Titans roster - depends on what kids are on campus, enrolled and taking classes.

Well, it's going to be another year with a mighty long bench. (Which is not a bad thing.) Fourteen and counting, with a couple more open spots that Coach Davis feels he will fill.
Coach Scott, who's had a couple of down years, is bringing in a lot of new women, including a 6-foot-5 forward. Are transfer rules different for women, because neither write-up on transfers indicate that the player will be sitting for a year.

Coach Scott, who's had a couple of down years, is bringing in a lot of new women, including a 6-foot-5 forward. Are transfer rules different for women, because neither write-up on transfers indicate that the player will be sitting for a year. I believe that men's baseball, hockey, basketball and football, and women's basketball, are the only sports with a mandatory transfer redshirt year. Other sports have a 1 time transfer exception, where you can play automatically on the first transfer. All of this goes to trying to prevent tampering/poaching/constant recruiting (whatever you want to call it). I think in other sports it's just not seen as an issue. Of course, this seems to contradict the thought that the women don't have to sit. "If you transfer from a four-year school, you may be immediately eligible to compete at your new school if you meet ALL the following conditions: You are transferring to a Division II or III school, or you are transferring to a Division I school in any sport other than baseball, men's or women's basketball, football (Football Bowl Subdivision) or men’s ice hockey. If you are transferring to a Division I school for any of the previously-listed sports, you may be eligible to compete immediately if you were not recruited by your original school and you have never received an athletics scholarship. You are academically and athletically eligible at your previous four-year school. You receive a transfer-release agreement from your previous four-year school." www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/current/transfer-terms
