I like Boe. I was hoping he would not be one of the players leaving.

I am disappointed. Boe made real progress between first and second years. I was looking forward to his blossoming more this season.

I do not like this at all. There goes 1/2 of our size and he seemed to improve last year. He seemed to have a lot more than what he showed and there were times when I wondered if he was one of the people Coach referenced when he spoke about guys wanting more than a trip on the bus.

And...a step backward. Ugh. As mentioned already, he kept improving each year and was going to contribute esp as a taller guy on the glass and protecting the rim.

Why does a guy enter the transfer portal at this relatively late date? He sees who we've gotten commitments from, who we're about to get commitments from, and sees he's not likely to play a lot going forward. Never like to lose a player, but I won't lose sleep over this one.

It's a good point - the timing doesn't tee him up to have a load of options to consider but he only needs 1 that feels like a good fit I suppose. With my overly-optimistic-Mercy-blue shades on, I want to believe that "Boe knows" he's being recruited over and we are about to land 1 or 2 big guys that would take his minutes. *insert shrugging shoulder emoji guy*

Who would have been taking Boe's minutes?

Even so, it doesn't show much of a competitive spirit if a player looks to transfer because new players are being recruited. Does he expect the team to remain with a 3ppg center and not have any competition at that position. it's not as if we recruited Abdul Jabbar for next year. We're bringing in Noah Waterman...I would expect more hunger.

Guys, we're not done recruiting and we're not done with players leaving. Wait until the entire deck has been shuffled before becoming overly optimistic or overly pessimistic. I also liked Boe's improvement and think he has potential. But Coach is reshaping the roster more to his liking. Remember the things he said in those late-season postgame interviews? The process is still ongoing.

Here's an update: (Note the variant spelling of the University's name)
"Detriot Mercy transfer Boe Nguidjol was on the phone. His transfer experience just started, but he has been hearing from D1 schools and D2's as well. Averaged just under 4 points per game as a sophomore."

Well that was fast (PVAMU or Prairie View A&M University is a public historically black university in Prairie View, Texas.)
