Saw on Facebook that there will be a media event at noon this coming Tuesday: “The 2020-21 basketball season is set to start on Nov. 25 and the teams will officially start practice on Oct. 14. Both coaches and select members of the men's and women's basketball teams will sit down to talk about the start of the season.” Assume you will be able to stream this on Facebook and/or perhaps YouTube.

The DetroitTitans.com article indicates the event can be seen live on the Titan Facebook and YouTube channels and also on Twitter at the main account @detroittitans.
The event will feature interviews with Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels, Jr., head men's basketball coach Mike Davis, head women's basketball coach AnnMarie Gilbert and members of the men's and women's basketball teams.

I wish Coach would either speak louder so we could hear him (pretend we're a ref that won't call any fouls when teams are playing physical vs Antoine) or the event staff would just give him a more sensitive mic. I want info on the program; I want to know what he's saying...
Now Rose is being interviewed and we can't hear him either - How about getting a mic that works?

In addition, there was no live feed on YouTube. It had to be the microphone because every person interviewed on that mike was inaudible. But you could hear the interviewers clearly. Very frustrating. Hopefully, they can correct the issue on any replays they may load on their website later.

This would just seem to be incompetence and someone's head should, perhaps, roll. While these things happen, this is the kick-off to the season for the University's flagship sport. You need a pretty good excuse to overcome that. Didn't anyone check in advance? If so, what went wrong at the last minute?

This Athletic Dept. has been inept since Vowels arrived, so this shouldn’t surprise anyone. His hiring was justified by his so called strong connections with the NCAA but we sure haven’t progressed there, if anything we have taken a step back.

This school loves to hire individuals with "connections" it has been stated that Larry Geracioti was hired in 1979 due to his connections with the NIT. Vowels was hired due to his connections with the NCAA. Maybe the board of governors, trustees, human resources or whomever is doing the hiring should just employ the most qualified candidate. It's not that difficult.

Vowels was hired due to his connections with the NCAA. Maybe the board of governors, trustees, human resources or whomever is doing the hiring should just employ the most qualified candidate. It's not that difficult. I never understood hiring an AD because of connections like that, particularly in hopes of making a post season tournament. Your team has to be a certain level of good to even be considered, and if the AD isn't steering the ship correctly and making good hires, all the connections in the world won't help a losing team get tournament bids. Like RBJ says, hire the best person. I think Vowels has done some good things. Community outreach from athletics is much better (as it is with the University overall). We're back on radio and television, pending any changes/updates the coming season. We've done a much better job of recognizing and connecting with past players, as opposed to just focusing on Dickie V. I think the right intentions are there, but we haven't had the results on the court, which is key, of course. And, yes, that is his responsibility as AD. Things have to get better. As we try to build enthusiasm for the coming season, such poor execution on Media Day really hurts.

Interviews with Coach Davis (:23 min mark) and Rose, Jr (:37 min mark) (both barely audible) mixed in with interviews with Vowels (barely audible) and members of the Woman's staff/team. Kuol interview starts at around 1 hr 05 mins and Joey Liedel at around 1 hr 14 min and are perfectly audible. Also the "wrap up" with both interviewers starting at 1 hr 19 min is audible. Lots of enthusiasm

This year's radio plans (sometimes to be a fan of this team surely requires a lot of faith):: As George Michael said in the 80s, "'Cause I gotta have faith, faith, faith..." That's not a bad radio package, and I would bet it made financial sense for the school. Good to have an FM/AM combination. The school needs to make sure that marketing efforts let the public know where our games can be found.
