With today's addition of Milwaukee's season opener at North Dakota, at this point, I've got 41 confirmed games on HL team non-conference schedules. The breakdown is 4 home games, 25 road games, and 12 neutral site games. Mid-major non-conference home games are becoming a thing of the past. Nah. Mid-majors can still schedule home games. Low major conferences like the HL has become whore themselves out for paychecks. Big DWSU, did you hear if the HL/SL challenge is still going to happen?

Road trip to Grand Forks. Yum! If we can't get a schedule agreement to play UND, then if the HL/SL challenge is still going to happen then 3rd Horizon League vs 3rd Summit League should also be a possibility. Both teams being in the top three in league standings for 2021-22. That would also work! My question is who would be the visiting team if UND and UD placed in the same order for their respective leagues? Just a reminder, the Horizon League did not recognize "standings" last year - we were considered by the League to be #5. However, North Dakota was also seeded 5th in the Summit, so your plan ends up working out anyways - unless you really mean North Dakota State, which did get the 3rd seed in the Summit

Nice catch scout, however, I misled you. Indeed it would end up working out if it was going to be based on "standings" playing North Dakota. Consequently, if the HL/SL challenge is still going to happen this year, the hardwood matchups are based on three criteria: projected team rankings, a 3-year RPI/NET average, and the latest Ken Pom Adjusted Efficiency Rating. The dates for the series where originally announced as November 16th and 20th in 2021 for two different teams. Are these dates opened on our OOC schedule?

I was able to uncover the info/preliminary schedule in the link below for North Dakota. Looks like they are doing a Summit/Big Sky Challenge this year. No mention of a Horizon/Summit Challenge - I believe it's dead for at least this season (thank God!), although North Dakota is playing Milwaukee on 11/9 as the 2nd game in a home and home series d1docket.blogspot.com/2021/06/june-25-update-signs-of-life.html?m=1

I know coach likes tough road games to get the team ready, but I have to say, I'd be very happy if Detroit had this YSU schedule. Home games against what would be for us an in-state MAC team (CMU) and an old Catholic rival, Canisius, the 3 home MTE games including another Catholic with some rep for the old-timers, Niagara, a very winnable guarantee game at Penn State, and a guarantee with some national clout against WVU. That Penn State and WVU are close to YSU is great--a bit like us substituting DePaul for PSU and Xavier or Notre Dame for WVU.

NKU had played at UNCG in 2019-20. So, this could be the return match-up.

Milwaukee's season opener at North Dakota, isn't a bad opener. I am a little jealous. I do not mind if Detroit schedule a home and home verses North Dakota. Road trip to Grand Forks. Yum! A grinder at the Red Pepper will make any trip to Grand Forks worthwhile. And check out UND's hockey arena, it is NHL-quality.

A few updates today.
It appears, per BDGlobal Sports, that OU will be playing in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Ft. Myers in November. It's a nice mid-major field with Akron, Vermont, Rice, Appalachian State, Delaware, Evansville, and Fordham.
YSU adds a 6th home game, against a non-D1 opponent.
Wright State's series with Western Kentucky is pushed back to next season, but we also learn--per BDGlobal--most of the field and dates for the Naples Invitational.
It appears that we'll have 22 conference games this year, meaning a max of just 9 non-conference games if a school plays in a 3 game MTE. We've got 8 games anticipated on the WSU and YSU schedules, so they're just about booked. Milwaukee, Oakland, and Green Bay also have nearly filled their dance cards.

It was earlier reported that RMU would play at Central Florida on Nov. 11. Wouldn't be surprised if one of these reports is incorrect, at least on date. Season opens November 9, so my guess is that UCF game is the 9th or 10th.
