Randomly came across the list of top 50 players in the 1986 high school class. Fun to see so many great college and nba names on here. pbs.twimg.com/media/E2Wqt2aWQAMhI6v?format=jpg&name=mediumAlso: Three Michigan preps in the top 10, and a 4th at #30. I know we often talk about the fall off of big time talent that finish their career in Michigan nowadays. Detroit’s own D Coleman at #5, and Romulus’ Terry Mills at #2 I admittedly don’t know anything about Terry Pendleton - ranked #10 out of Flint who went to Iowa. Dean Smith in peak form snagging #1 JR Reid, plus #6 Scott Williams and #17 Pete Chilcut.

The Golden Age of basketball, the 1980s. Lots of talent on that list.

The Golden Age of basketball, the 1980s. Lots of talent on that list. There is indeed. But note that a significant majority of these kids still never made the NBA. Just a reminder for the young, hot-shot recruits today to have a plan B.

Proposition 48 happened in 1986, regulation that stipulates minimum high school grades and standardized test scores that student-athletes must meet in order to participate in college athletic competition. There where alot of basketball stars from the Metro Detroit area that couldn't either qualify for admissions or got admission status for a semester or two. I feel that this limited the Titans basketball program success, due to higher admission standards. I can think of my player during this area that where great ball players that didn't quite make the cut continuing their education. For example, John Beauford, Emmanuel Bibbs ( 10th place for Michigan's High School Mr. Basketball award for 1991). Any others, that you can think of from the 80's and 90's decades?

Terry Pendleton actually was Anthony Pendleton from Flint NW, went to George Raveling's Iowa team, followed him to USC and may have dropped out. Finished up at St Martins College with 2 other Flint kids.
He was a outstanding HS player, he might have been better served coming to the U of D, I don't believe Raveling treat him right, he may have had to sit out a year at UDC and may not have even played at Iowa.
