Are we going to have a women's team this year or just 4 players and a coaching staff? Sure looks like the cart in front of the horse. I think now we are at 3 coaches and 4 players. Our players should get some excellent individual coaching this year! I do realize that the 4 players we do have might be stronger than the entire team we had last year but we could have a foul trouble problem. This team should save the University a lot of $ on travel expenses. Now I am wondering if Vowels gets a % of the overhead savings? Why is Vowels still here?

Looks like a solid hire, particularly when you are seeking candidates to work for an interim coach at a program undergoing the turmoil our women's program is experiencing.

FWIW, last week I heard that there would be several WBB incoming players announced soon, but they wanted to issue press releases on pending staff hires first.

We want to have as close to a 1:1 coach to player ratio in order to help them progress rapidly. Actually, from social media, we know that we have at least 4 more players transferring in: 2 from JUCO and 2 from other D-1 schools. I was told that the coach has commitments from a total of 8-9 players who have not been announced, but that Coach Collins has an order in which she wants to announce coaches and players. My guess is that the transfers will be announced when they arrive in August. The four announced players are freshmen who also signed national letters of intent. The 4 known transfers are Irene Murua, 6'0" from La Tech; Janna Lewis, 5'11" grad transfer from NKU, A'Moni Waiters, 6'3" JUCO from SW FL State College, and Imani Lewis, 5'6" G/F JUCO from South Georgia Tech College.

Welcome, Coach Edwards.
I imagine that the hiring of assistant coaches and recruiting of players for the upcoming season are activities that are taking place at the same time. One thing we know about U-D is that the programs take a long time to officially announce the commitment/signing of student-athletes. I'm expecting us to field a full roster. Not sure how good they'll be, given the chaos of the past several months, but we'll have enough to play the season. :-)

That is what we said last year. Hopefully, this year it is true.

Coach Collins reaches out to legendary coach Sue Hardy who visits. This is a positive sign.

That's very cool. Always good for current players to have a sense of the history of the program.

Warning - It's subscription protected I thought it was an informative, fair, generally upbeat preview article. I’m sure this team will have its struggles, but my gut tells me WBB will end up with more wins than the last few seasons.
