Really good info, thanks, I guess if there was to be a change the Metro Atlantic would seem the best fit, certainly many like schools. True the east coast is a trip. But 2 schools are in Buffalo and are a easy trip. Conn has 2 schools, and seems the longest trip, maybe 8 or 9 hours by bus. Our longest trip in our league is Milwaukee/Green Bay which I assume is a air trip, all the rest are 4 to 6 hour bus trips. Maybe it just me, but I'd rather play the Manhattan, Iona, St Peters and Niagara of the world than IUPUI, Purdue-Ft Wayne or Youngstown. There is only one team in the Horizon that has a basketball tradition, that's Detroit, and none that have a better basketball tradition than Siena, Saint Peters, Niagara, Canisius, Iona, or Manhattan has. Actually I can see the problem that the MAAC won't want Detroit because it's a one team trip here.

The best spot for us is the A10 due to there size and there footprint. Playing U of Dayton twice a year would feel like the old days. The Big East would be a good fit but the price tag would be pretty high. But if there is a small chance to get into the Big East..i word pledge the first 50k. With bigger crowds from the Big East and a piece of there TV deal, the switch would be well worth it and payoff in the first 3 years. The Big East having Depaul in is a waste. We have history of most of the teams in the Big East. Adding a market and the state would be a big selling point.

After looking, the A10 has 14 member league, so i don't see them adding anyone more at this time unless someone leaves. The Big East has 11 members after adding U Conn last year. U Conn is paying out over 10 million for leaving the AAC to join the Big East. It was a great move and for UDM leaving the Horizon with a exit fee of 500k to join a better league.

As the new season approached, it appears that Titan Mike's board is gone for good, which is really too bad. It was a good sign that the program was able to support two boards, as there were a lot of posters there who didn't post here.
Over the years we had people say that this board should go away and the focus should be on TM's board. I was always in favor of two boards, and I'm glad that school of thought won out. This should be an entertaining season; I'm glad we have a place to discuss it. Thanks to everyone who has kept this board going.

For the last 3 yrs. I have challenged others on here to make more games and support the team. I have to confess I will not see the Titans play live this year. I purchased my season tickets and Titan Club as always but in the past I looked forward to being there and seeing everyone. This year I feel like I am missing nothing and doing myself a favor avoiding the unwanted fan experience. I have to get down to my accountant for taxes but probably will not get to Calihan. About 5-6 yrs. ago I ran into Michael Miller in the TC and in conversation the GB - Milwaukee week came up. He told me not to purchase tickets there that they were competition and to send my extra $ to UD. This year I missed the games with Covid. So I guess next year might be different hoping to see most of you then.

Is the team practicing? Are they working together so they can start to understand and blend their different skills? I hope they are not in the gym throwing up a thousand + shots a day. During a game they only get 1 ball. I wonder who will replace Willie as the designated high pic setter for AD!

The lack of more official roster announcements does not mean we have no more players committed. Frequently, it's a paperwork pushing issue between schools when there are transfers involved. I think the coaching staff are well aware of the lack of size so far on the part of the roster publicly known. Different schools have different PR policies on when to announce and post their rosters.
As to fan's comments in the Oakland thread about non-conference schedule announcements, since 2008, the Titans' non-conference schedule has been announced as early as July 8th in 2009 and as late as September 9th-10th in 2011. There has been no regularly set announcement date.
I wish there were more to discuss ...

Just a reminder to everyone, we're supposed to be having fun. Neary a decade of mediocrity has made us all a bit grumpy, but let's not take it out on each other.

Without much fanfare, it seems that the scheduling procedure has changed. There was a time when the annuals like Street and Smith would publish in late July with an almost full schedule of the schools reviewed in the book.
Now as Commissioner noted "At this point fewer than 10% of schools have released a schedule". I guess the Titans are in the top 90%, sometimes don't change for the better.

Some schools provide schedule updates throughout out the process. Other schools wait until the entire schedule is in place to publicly acknowledge even a single matchup. If our schedule is essentially complete minus one game (as indicated in another recent post), I think it would have more than okay to share it at the recent golf outing with a mention that there is one game to be added and with the caveat that some dates, etc., are subject to change. Just my two cents. (FWIW, I have some old Titan game programs from the Vitale era in that show partial schedules for the following two or three MBB seasons.)

Has anyone had the opportunity to visit Calihan and see any of the new players in action? BTW, I have been in touch with Tim Waller Director of Bball Operations and he responded promptly to an inquiry that I had re Boston College game. As a result, I have definitely decided to attend that game and spend a night in Boston. I hope that some fans will make the trip. I remember when a group traveled to Albany NY about 10 yrs ago for a series of games at SUNY Albany.

Since 2014, we—the students and professors of the Know Rivalry Project—have been answering this question for professional sports with the help of message board members. Now we are expanding our research to the Horizon League. Please help us ensure that Detroit Mercy is included by taking 9 minutes to complete our updated survey: umassamherst.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3FdJ8eN2EgFCfCB?grpID=1472&mbsrc=SPB307 Our previous results have been featured in numerous sports media outlets, as well as the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. You can view those results, links to media coverage, and learn more about us at our KnowRivalry.com website. We use the Qualtrics online survey software for data collection. This academic research has been approved by two universities' Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and it poses no risks to respondents. You'll find more information on the disclosure agreement that is required to start the survey. Thank you for helping us to include Detroit Mercy by participating and please share this with any other fans that may also help.
