Have you ever been to a Titans cross country meet? No, me neither. But I plan to go tomorrow (Saturday, September 11) at Cass Benton Park in Northville, and check it off my UDM sports-related bucket list. The meet is billed as the “Running Fit–Detroit Mercy Titans Cross Country Invitational.” This is the only opportunity this season to watch the Titan teams run in the state of Michigan. Weather forecast for tomorrow morning is sunny and 70 degrees, so should be a beautiful late summer setting. Downtown Northville is a relatively short distance away and there are lots of great spots to have lunch after the event. There are some preliminary high school races in the morning, but the scheduled starting times for the collegiate portion of the invitational are: 11:05 AM– 5,000 Meter Women’s Collegiate Invitational 11:45 AM – 4-Mile Men’s Collegiate Invitational Here are directions to the event site for anyone else interested: From I-275 north or south, exit Six Mile Road (Exit #170). Take Six Mile west to Northville Road. Northville Road is after the train overpass on Six Mile. Turn right on Northville Road and proceed 0.4 miles to the park entrance and turn left into the entrance - Park Drive. Park Drive leads to Hines Drive and the course is on the west side of Hines Drive. detroittitans.com/sports/2009/6/5/GEN_0605094441.aspxdetroittitans.com/news/2021/9/9/mens-cross-country-cross-country-to-begin-2021-campaign-by-hosting-the-35th-annual-running-fit-detroit-mercy-titan-invitational.aspx?fbclid=IwAR3LsWkdRbRKITu_kPjBR1VJokjRVbhMEFiBYJ7qb91se7xw1yqlo8PUvYs

That's a great setting for what should be a fun event.

The Titans finished 10th in the League championships, won by IUPUI. Thomas Mueller was a second team all-conference selection.
