I know it's crazy starting a 2026 thread now - we don't even have a 2025 thread started yet - but Davis made his 1st "offer" to an 8th grader, the brother of one of our commits

Crazy, but I can see making an offer to Sonny's brother. Good basketball genes in that family, and it doesn't hurt to maintain that connection. Kid is probably pretty good considering his bloodlines.

Funny thing is, if he were to commit, his time here would not overlap with his brother's at all. That's how far in the future it is.

From what little you can see in a short video it looks like this young man deserves the offer.

Will Coach Davis even be here in 2026?

Offers to 8th graders are ridiculous.. in any scenario. It's just odd. The NCAA should focus some of its efforts on cleaning up early recruiting... whether it ever benefits my university or not.
I watched the video and based on the bloodlines Im sure he has a great chance of playing D1 basketball one day. That said, I'm convinced that one of my high school teammates was every bit as good in 8th grade. In 10th grade, he was receiving letters from Todd Bozeman at Cal. We thought our buddy was in line to be the next Jason Kidd. Long story short, he didn't end up playing college basketball. Debated walking on at GVSU but did not.
In general, kids shouldn't be offered until that offer is binding. If it's not... what's the point, really?
P.S. my rant is not a knock on Davis at all. The rules are what they are so it would be a failure if you didn't take advantage.

I think we all know that guy who looked like a future pro in eighth grade and ended up not making varsity in high school. It happens. What's worse is the rankings of kids as young as fourth grade. I've seen them. It is ridiculous.
