Fun fact about Cabrini University: it’s just 2.7 miles from Villanova University. Pretty nice area outside Philadelphia. I couldn’t find anything indicating the schools have ever played each other in basketball, even in an exhibition game.

I don’t have the figures in front of me, but my recollection is that is close to what Garabaldi earns at Detroit Mercy, no campus residence.
Well there is lots of affordable housing within a 10-minute drive of campus. The Bargain Block guys could easily renovate a house to order for his family for under $100K. And I'd think the UDM president would have to live in the city, if only for appearances. Hard to convince students to attend, or donors to give, to the University of Detroit Mercy if you don't even live in the city.

If you make a half million a year you can afford one of those high-end Detroit neighborhoods, relatively close to campus. Options too in the University District, slightly less pricy. Doubt that they will move to one of the Bargain Block properties. Here’s where Taylor currently lives (rent free, tax free), 9257 square feet, current estimated value of $1,800,500 on Zillow: www.theloquitur.com/college-upgrades-presidential-house/

From the Cabrini student newspaper: www.theloquitur.com/cabrini-president-donald-taylor-resigns-to-head-up-detroit-mercy/An excerpt, a positive comment, then some negatives about Cabrini’s recent balance sheets: “He (Taylor) had a good impact on my life and I’m very sad that he left,” Jennifer Sinchi, accounting major, said. “He was very welcoming to me and my family, and was the main reason I chose to go to Cabrini.” Despite these achievements, Taylor’s presidency has also been met with challenges. Taylor, who has a total annual compensation package of $477,702, announced his resignation following several years of financial hardships facing the university. The University has been steadily losing money during his tenure as president. During his first year at Cabrini, the school had a $900,000 deficit. According to the IRS Form 990, a public federal tax document, Cabrini reports that each year he served, from 2015 to 2020, the university reported a deficit between $3 and $6 million. Also during his leadership, many departments and academic programs were cut in an attempt to save money. Brianie Ramos, sophomore accounting major and Spanish minor, felt blinded by the Spanish department getting cut, and felt silenced as a minority student.

It kind of sounds like a lateral move or maybe a slight step down monetarily. Might be an opportunity to escape some pressure that appeared at an opportune time. I think it is a good idea for the President of a University to live on campus. Did the presidents ever live on campus at U of D?

It kind of sounds like a lateral move or maybe a slight step down monetarily. Might be an opportunity to escape some pressure that appeared at an opportune time. I think it is a good idea for the President of a University to live on campus. Did the presidents ever live on campus at U of D? Many of the Jesuit presidents of U of D lived on campus. Remember when the university received the Fisher mansion in Palmer Woods as a gift for use as the president's home? But it became too costly to maintain. So, it was sold. This is a step up for Taylor. We have a dental school, a law school, a school of architecture, an engineering school. We intend to open a school of optometry in the new Novi facility. We intend to build new student housing on the parking lot along Livernois south of Florence and across from Reno Hall (scheduled for demolition). Hopefully, he continues forward with Road to a Championship and its intended upgrades at Calihan Hall. Athletics is an asset that properly funded and capitalized can increase enrollment. Men's basketball is the one sport that can quickly add revenue to that department's budget. Proper capitalization includes employee capital and hiring the right people for the right positions in that department. What happened at CSU and UIC to cause the changes there? They both hired new ADs with Power 6 experience. UIC's AD came from NC State. CSU's came from Kansas State.

I hope addressing the AD position is one of the items on top of the new presidents agenda. Unless Garibaldi is already advising him not to address Vowels. The minute I get an e- mail address I will be sending him everything I can including my communications with Garibaldi and the evidence He had and it still took him 14 more months to address the Gathier issue.

So you’re going to contact the incoming president so that you can complain about the outgoing president?

So you’re going to contact the incoming president so that you can complain about the outgoing president? No I am hoping that the new President will address our AD problem and if Garibaldi is trying to protect Vowels on his way out, I would like the new president to know more about the decision making ability of his predecessor so that hopefully he will not put much cadence in Garibaldis recommendations. I was not a Carlos Briggs fan but there was substance to what he told Garibaldi. Garibaldi had the evidence and still took 14 months to act on the problem. Then he gave us Vowels!

That’s what I thought you meant. It also would be interesting if President Taylor was aware of the lengthy time it took to fire Ray and hire Bacardi; then proceed with the same timeline to fire Bacardi and hire Mike. I also did a little review and calculations of the most recent athletic season for each of our teams. MBB…..14-15….actually, our most successful team. M Fencing….0-3 in meets…..0-19 vs the teams in those meets M LAX……0-4 so far….76 goals against vs 21 for. M Soccer5-7-5 Pretty sad…..but wait until you see the Womens sports: WBB……1-29 Fencing….also 0-3 with 0-20 LAX….0-5 with goal differential of 98-31 Soccer3-13-2 Softball…0-8 with run differential of 66-8……4 games shortened due to 8 run Mercy Rule after 5 innings.
Every team has a losing mark…..and some of the sports, especially Women, are so far behind their opponents
So is it coaching, recruiting, facilities….? How about the discovery that Titan Field is unplayable due to poor upkeep?
How much further can the athletic program sink under The leadership of this AD?

The announcement of Ray's dismissal was April 1, 2016. The announcement of Bacari's hiring was April 22, 2016.
The announcement of Bacari's firing was March 26, 2018. The announcement of Davis' hiring was June 13, 2018.
In women's BB, the 5-year cumulative record of the team is something like 11-122.
It will be interesting to see if the new president continues having the AD report directly to him or if he returns to having the AD report to a VP.
Division 1 Athletics is an asset that should be adequately capitalized, funded and staffed. If properly managed, a successful athletics department can increase new student applications by 40% and enrollment by 20-25%. I hope the trustees and the new president understand this dynamic.
