What to Watch For November 15. Plenty of good action on television tonight for the hoop junkies among us.
6:30 PM FS1 Northwestern vs Georgetown. Gavitt Game. Georgetown is trying to refocus after an 0-18 conference season last year. Doug Collins at Northwestern is thankful that the administration has a lot of patience. 7:00 PM ESPN Greg Kelser vs Jack "Goose" Givens. Kentucky is a 7 point favorite over Michigan State in Indianapolis. 8:30 PM FS1 Al McGuire vs Gene Keady. Marquette supercharged their season last year in the Gavitt Games, but face a tough opponent at Purdue. 9:00 PM BTN Green Bay at Wisconsin. Chance to scout the Phoenix. 9:30 PM #7 Jim Spanarkel vs #6 Darnell Valentine. Couple of blue bloods slug it out with Duke a 1.5 point favorite over Kansas. 11:00 PM #21 Negele Knight vs Anderson Hunt. Dayton's program is so good they are favored on the road against UNLV.
What NOT to watch (thankfully it's not local TV): Oregon State vs Bushnell University. That's right, a PAC 12 team is playing an NAIA team as a regular season game. Shame.

Bradley 89, Eastern Michigan 61. Didn’t see that one coming. Bates had 20 points. Yeah. That one was eye opening. Doesn't that mean that Bradley would beat Michigan by 20? Haha

Scores from November 15, 2022. Upsets, blue bloods battling, buzzer beaters, and blowouts. Lots to love about the game tonight.
HORIZON LEAGUE. A glorified scrimmage, a good win, and a mismatch. Youngstown State 96, Grace Bible College 68. Better than practice, I guess. Wright State 80, Bowling Green 71. Amari Davis had 19 for the winners in this instate battle. Michigan native Leon Ayers III scored 22 points for Bowling Green. Wisconsin 56, Green Bay 45. Ugly shooting by both teams.
LOCAL TEAMS. Michigan State 86, #4 Kentucky 77 (2OT). Instant classic, with MSU's starting front court combining for 59 points. At the end of regulation and at the end of the first overtime, the Spartans ran a couple of great out of bounds plays to get Malik Hall free for dunks. Junior Mady Sissoko had 16 and 9 for the Spartans, enjoying his start to the year after people around him were pushing him to transfer. Bradly 89, EMU 61. This result surprised me.
TOP 25 #1 North Carolina 72, Gardner Webb 66. The Heels are playing with fire so far this year. #6 Kansas 69, #7 Duke 64. The Jayhawks closed the game on a 15-5 run. The teams combined to shoot 6-40 from three. Analytics!!! #13 Auburn 89, Winthrop 65 #17 San Diego State 77, Stanford 62 UNLV 60, #21 Dayton 52 #25 UConn 84, Buffalo 64
OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST Providence 100, Stonehill 76 Northwestern 75, Georgetown 63 Purdue 75, Marquette 70 Xavier 78, Fairfield 65 St. Louis 90, Memphis 84. Mo Cisse, former celebrated Oakland commit, played 3 minutes and had 1 point and 1 rebound for St. Louis. Georgia State 85, Mercer 83 West Virginia 75, Morehead State 57 Vanderbilt 89, Temple 87 Wake Forest 68, Utah Valley 65 (OT) Alcorn State 69 SF Austin 60. No letdown for Alcorn State after their win over Wichita State. Missouri 105, SIUE 80 NC State 107, Florida International 74 Oregon 81, Montana State 51 South Dakota State 66, St. Bonaventure 62. Game was at South Dakota State. Oklahoma 74, UNC-Wilmington 53
UPSETS! Appalachian State 61, Louisville 60. Dr. Dunkenstein ain't walking through the door. Louisville is STRUGGLING. 0-3, all losses coming by one point. Colgate 80, Syracuse 68. Whispers about Jim Boeheim are getting louder. UC Sandiego 64, California 62. PAC 12 doing PAC 12 things.
MID MAJOR WIN OF THE DAY Prairie View 70, Washington State 59. Going with another SWAC upset over the PAC 12, because of the the significance of the game. The SWAC/PAC 12 Legacy series ends at 3 wins apiece this season. An upset win at home over a high major does more for a program than an upset win on the road, like Colgate over Syracuse. Gets the student body excited and maybe brings out more fans for upcoming games. Congrats to Prairie View and to the SWAC.

Momo has played 6 minutes in the Billikens' first three games. One wonders if OU might have been a better choice.
For the PAC 12, that stat packs a lot of embarrassment.

What To Watch For November 16, 2022.
6:00 PM ESPNU #20 Antoine Joubert vs Demetrius Gore. Michigan is a 8.5 point favorite on the road at Pitt, but the Panthers can be dangerous. 7:00 PM BTN Eastern Illinois vs Ohio State. Should be a clear win for UDBaller's team. 7:30 PM FS1 BJ Armstrong vs John Morton. Iowa takes on Seton Hall in the Gavitt Games. 9:30 PM ESPN2 #2 Gonzaga vs #11 Texas. Game of the Night.

Scores from November 16, 2022. Good night for the Horizon including an excellent win for the Titans.
Detroit 88, Ohio 74. The Titans grabbed an early lead and kept it, staying in control throughout. The Bobcats had a bit of a run at the end, but I never thought that the Titans were in danger of letting it get away. AD led the way with 28 and three other Titans hit double figures. Unsung hero: Buay Koka, who played 12 minutes and contributed 5 boards, an assist, and a steal. Anderson and Stone continued their strong play.
Toledo 112, Oakland 90. The Rockets were up 20 at the half and were never threatened. The State of Ohio took this border battle, while the Titans won theirs. Robert Morris 111, West Virginia Wesleyan 56
Nothern Kentucky 64, Cincinnati 51. Another border battle results in a great win for the Norse. This game was at NKU, part of a deal struck when NKU allowed Cincy to use their arena while the Bearcats arena was under construction. NKU took advantage of the setting and scored the win.
Cleveland State 58, Canisius 57. The Vikings got their first win after opening the season with three straight losses and it was a quality road win. CSU watched a double digit lead evaporate but fought back for the victory. Detroiter Spider Johnson had ten points, one of four Vikings in double figures.
LOCAL TEAMS #20 Michigan 90, Pitt 61. Michigan broke open a close game in the second half and cruised. I wonder if Pitt misses Jamie Dixon.
TOP 25 #11 Texas 93, #2 Gonzaga 74. Bob Huggins said a couple of weeks back that Gonzaga would get a wake up call if they joined the Big 12. I think he's right. #3 Houston 83, Texas Southern 48. City Championship for Houston. #9 Arkansas 71, South Dakota State 56 #22 Tennessee 81, Florida Gulf Coast 50. Someone was going to pay for that poor Tennessee performance against Colorado.
OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST Harvard 70, Northeastern 69. The Crimson were the underdog in this game. Tulane 99, Charleston Southern 79. Ohio State 65, Eastlern Illinois 43 Iowa 83, Seton Hall 67 Notre Dame 82, Southern Indiana 70 Arizona State 63, VCU 59. ASU flirted with doing the PAC 12 thing, but overcame a deficit to slip by a VCU team playing shorthanded. Saint Mary's 72, Southern 54 BYU 66, Missouri State 64. Big game from Noah Waterman, who hit 5-6 three pointers for 15 points in only 12 minutes of action. San Francisco 67, Fresno State 60. Good road win for the Dons.
MID MAJOR WIN OF THE DAY Chicago State 87, Valparaiso 74. Not a significant game, but a great win for Chicago State. CSU was a 9.5 point underdog at home to our old conference mate, but took a twenty-five point lead at the half. Valpo came alive in the second half, but the hole was too deep. Chicago State, one of two independent D1 programs in the country (Hartford is the other), wins it's second game in three days.

Scores for November 17, 2022. Wild night.
HORIZON LEAGUE Wright State 99, Definance 56. Better than practice, I guess.
LOCAL TEAMS Arizona State 87, Michigan 62. Surprise of the night for me. ASU started out hot and just never cooled off. Michigan struggled from all over. Minnesota 68, CMU 60. The Chips kept fighting, but couldn't make it a game.
TOP 25 #4 Kentucky 106, South Carolina State 63 #10 Creighton 80, UC Riverside 51 #14 Arizona 104, Utah Tech 77 #15 TCU 95, ULM 60
OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST St. John's 70, Nebraska 50. The Huskers had the lead at the half. Marquette 95, LIU 58 Butler 95, St. Francis-PA 67 Penn State 73, Furman 68 UMASS 66, Colorado 63. The Buffs have lost to Grambling, beat Tennessee, and lost to Colorado. Go figure. Virginia Tech 75, Old Dominion 71 Colorado State 85, South Carolina 53 Kansas State 69, Kansas City 53 Indiana State 101, N. Dakota State 75 Brown 64, Stony Brook 53 Charleston 89, Davidon 66. The margin was an eye opener. VCU 71, Pitt 67. VCU benefited from Michigan transfers Brandon Johns (18 points) and Zeb Jackson (16). Louisiana 94, Louisiana Tech 88 LSU 91, New Orleans 62 Geogia Tech 68, Northern Illinois 50 Tulsa 85, Loyola-Chicago 66 Utah State 91, San Diego 89 (OT). Remember Michigan native Eric Williams, the kid who hardly anyone recruited? Two years at Duquesne, two years at Oregon, and tonight he scored 43 points for San Diego.
UPSETS! Austin Peay 62, South Florida 60 Wichita State 56, Richmond 53 Sam Houston 65, Utah 55. PAC 12 doing PAC 12 things. SHU's second power five win of the year. They beat Oklahoma earlier. Utah was favored by ten. California Baptist 73, Washington 64. PAC 12 doing PAC 12 things.
MID MAJOR WIN OF THE DAY Even though there were several good candidates, I'm going with Murray State over #24 Texas A&M, 88-79. Murray State was a ten point underdog to a ranked team so I give them the edge. I wouldn't argue if someone went with the other candidates, though.

Scores from November 18, 2022. Some surprising scores.
HORIZON LEAGUE. Cleveland State 67, Arkansas Pine Bluff 58. The Vikings got their second win of the season despite only one player scoring in double figures. Queens University 81, Green Bay 65. Ugly loss for the Phoenix. Northwestern 60, Fort Wayne 52
LOCAL TEAMS.
Michigan State 73, Villanova 71. Really good game. MSU had control early and a late Nova run cut it to one. Western Michigan 90, Houston Christian 84. Lamar Norman had 34 points on only 16 shot attempts.
TOP 25 #16 Virginia 86, #5 Baylor 79. Virginia went up twenty, and Baylor couldn't come all the way back. #6 Kansas 82, Southern Utah 76. This was a battle all the way. #7 Duke 92, Delaware 58 #12 Indiana 81, Xavier 79. One of the top games of the night. Crazy stat: First road win for IU over a Ken Pom top 40 team in twenty plus years! #13 Auburn 72, Texas Southern 56 #18 Alabama 104, Jacksonville State 62 #19 Illinois 79, #8 UCLA 70 Colorado 103, #24 Texas A&M 75. The Buffaloes are Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde.
OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST
Santa Clara 71, DePaul 69 Loyola Marymount 84, Georgetown 66. The Hoyas were up 10 at the half. Temple 72, Rutgers 66. Temple is another split personality team. Duquesne 85, Colgate 80 West Virginia 92, Penn 58 Notre Dame 66, Lipscomb 64. Davidson 69, South Carolina 60 Iona 71, Vermont 50 Oklahoma 64, South Alabama 60 Florida 76, Florida State 67. FSU was up 17 at the half. The 'Noles are still way shorthanded, but I never expected them to be 0-4. Boston College 71, George Mason 56 Grand Canyon 81, Grambling 48 Wake Forest 75, LaSalle 66 UMass 71, Murray State 69 Charleston 74, Colorado State 64. Charleston will play in the Final of the Charleston Classic. USC 83, Mount St. Mary's 74
UPSETS! UCF 60, Oklahoma State 56. UCF's second win over a power five program in the young season.
MID MAJOR WIN OF THE DAY Southern 74, California 66. Incredibly, this is the SWAC's fourth win this year over the PAC 12. This game is part of the Emerald Coast Classic, not the SWAC/PAC 12 Legacy series, but it still counts as bragging rights for the SWAC. California is winless, but Southern also came into this game 0-3. What a way to get the first win, a road game against a high major. Go Jags!

Scores for November 19, 2022.
Florida Atlantic 76, Detroit 55. FAU gets revenge for 2013 with a good old fashioned beating. Only bright spot for the Titans was Parks with 8 points and 11 rebounds in 18 minutes. Anderson, Stone, Moss, and Oliver combined to shoot 2-17 from the floor.
HORIZON LEAGUE #21 Dayton 60, Robert Morris 51. The Colonials put up a good fight against the Flyers, and defended well. IUPUI 59, Franklin 45 Oakland 92, EMU 90 (OT) YSU 73, UC San Diego 54. The Penguins get a 19 point win over a D1 team. Not bad.
LOCAL TEAMS Rice 96, WMU 88. The Broncos hung tough on the road against the Owls, behind 30 points from Lamar Norman, who stays hot.
OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST NC State 74, Elon 63 Kent State 88, Chicago State Maryland 95, St. Louis 67. Surprising blowout. What to watch for November 20, 2022.
Late notice, but Gonzaga and Kentucky will be tipping off on ESPN in a few minutes, followed by Houston versus Oregon at 9:30 PM. A couple of potentially great games.
