Tony Paul tweet from yesterday: “Detroit Mercy’s decision on postseason play likely will happen Sunday. CBI and Ps8 both are very interested. Both are waiting for the conference tournaments to play out before finalizing their fields.” That sounds like we're choosing between offers. If that is the case (and I have my doubts) I'd take the CBI. Mock it all you like, it's been around for 16 years now, has made it through COVID, and appears somewhat likely to stick around. PS-8 may or may not exist this year, or next. |

Does this mean that we are not eligible to participate?

There is no pre-determined eligibility criteria that I am aware of that serves as general threshold to play in the tournament. The CBI has invited teams in the past with below .500 records, and their spokesperson has publicly indicated that the Titans were being considered for this year’s tournament. Sounds like there may have been guaranteed ways to get an invite linked to record for teams that participated in the Gotham Classic, but other spots in the CBI could get filled based on different considerations. |

However, I will say this: If the CBI has extended an invitation to Detroit and we haven't accepted it, that sounds like another in the long line of bad decisions that multiple administrations have made regarding the basketball program. |
