If we had to play in Indy, that money had to come from somewhere, FL shouldn't be much more.

If this University isn't willing or able to spend the money for entrance and travel costs to the CBI, especially in these particular circumstances, maybe we should just admit that we don't have the will or ability to maximize the potential of the D1 basketball program. There were probably three seasons under McCallum when we could have played in that kind of tournament, but someone decided it wasn't worth it. Teams like Grand Canyon and San Francisco invested in the CBI and CIT on their way to building NCAA tournament teams. Then again, we struggle for years with things like the sound system at Calihan, and our ticket buying system fails right before the last home game, so maybe my expectations are just too high. I have not heard that the university is unwilling to spend the money for us to play in the CBI if we are invited. We would not need to take any more of an army there than we have taken to any other road game. As to deserving, we are as deserving as some recent mid-major teams with 13-20 and 14-19 regular season records that have played in the CBI. I hope they are willing. The previous actions under this same athletic administration do not leave me optimistic.

On the CBI website, there is an interesting piece in regard to teams that have played in their tournament and have moved on to the NCAA. If the UDM gets an invitation, the first and obvious attention would be if and when AD breaks the record, next should be what kind of run the team would make, how great for the program would it be if they won, then would be how many points AD accumulated to add to the record. Lost in all this is if the UDM played well and gained some type of national exposure (granted limited). This AD story has pushed UDM onto almost every sports page or on the air show in the country, more than I've ever seen. A run in the CBI would keep it going.

Ya know what, "fan" just sold me on this CBI bid. At our February TC Board Meeting, it was estimated that we had received $1 million in free PR at that point due to The Chase. An investment of another $50K would return much more PR. If we truly believe that PR has value, then let's go.
I would be extremely disappointed if we just showed up, let AD break the record, and then rolled over. It's a risk, and we've rolled over before in a minor Tourney (see last year). Is this team different/better than that? I'm still not sure. I know they can't score in the clutch and I know they decide to play when they want to play. I would be a proponent of making sure Tank and Jones get plenty of minutes.

1983. it really depends which team shows up, is it the team that ran Oakland off the count last month, or the team that played 2 games really bad games at FAU. Frankly, I've been following the U of D/UDM for a long time and have never seen the team or school get this much exposure, this is a rare opportunity to build on it.

It's been a long time since I've seen a Titan team scrambling so hard for loose balls and rebounds.

I would like to think if UDM goes to the CBI, and get AD's record is behind them, they go forward and play as a team. The games that they play basketball as a team (Oakland and FW) they were a very dangerous team.

Pass the hat, we all on here would contribute to make it happen. Win a championship and ill donate. Need to win instead of worrying about awards .

This player, this student gave everything he had for 5 years, and stayed here an extra year, he could have gone to Georgetown or BYU, all reports are he an excellent student and good ambassador for the school, and
Mr. Trevergoat doesn't think this player should be supported by the school, alum, and fans in his quest.......how come?

Money is no longer an impediment. Between donors and the school, we have it all covered. But we face a concerted pressure campaign from certain power schools and conferences to keep us from playing in any invitational postseason tournament because they don't want to see Pistol Pete's record broken. And they are trying to pressure people at UDM and at the tournaments to keep us out. Vowels is all for us playing. As a result, some outsiders opposed to our playing are trying to go around him at UDM to try and stop it. Therefore, I ask that those of you who favor us playing to email President Taylor and state your support.
It is important that you email your support quickly. His business email address is:
dontaylor@udmercy.edu
BTW, Taylor wants us called UDM.

Email President Taylor.
Don't let some non-athletic administrator stop this when we have raised the money to play.

Hey FAN, there are more people on here like Trevergoat than you think. U of D has had many great past players who have also won. 5 years of losing is not what you want to see as a fan (no pun intended).

That's absurd. If we've got a bid, we need to accept it immediately and announce it. But I suppose I'd take a $1 million check for the program. I can be bought, just not pressured.

We're losing a lot, so we shouldn't do something to get the program some positive PR and show future athletes that we will support them? That strikes me as a remarkably foolish strategy.
