Final score 93-78. Head coach comments. "Have to take your hat off to our guys. They're playing hard. 52% shooting good, but defense was not good at all. We lost concentration during that big run, made a few mistakes, missed some rebounds. But we played hard, and we're getting ready for the conference tournament. You have to hand it to Kyle, getting his degree and working on his masters already. He's a hard worker. Edoardo is a good talent, but he lets things get to him." Dont forget the part about wishing Kyle would have worked on his offensive game sometime in the past 4 years. 😁

Kuac could use some work on his offensive game as well.

Smart scheduling by Athletics. Spare Coach Davis the embarrassment of speaking to the Titan clan.

Kuac could use some work on his offensive game as well. To me his game just stagnates when he misses his first shot because he doesn’t have the liberty of taking 3 or 4 to find it like some other guys do because we aren’t good enough to sustain slow stretches. Dunk he had vs ft Wayne was nasty you can see he can be effective in the paint especially on tip ins but seems like he’s just taken on the 3 and d role for this year. If he’s back I’d be curious if he could get up to like 7.5 and 6 instead of 3.5 and 4 or whatever he’s at right now. I think he would easily make the defensive team next year if he’s back.

Watched Kyle in HS he was a lot more aggressive offensively. He wasn’t the #1 option but was usually 2-3. He had confidence that was destroyed playing for the Davis’s trying to make him into potatoes as they already had their steak. When Kyle would take a shot he would be pulled and Mr. Potato Head would jump him on his way to the bench. Anyone here still defending Davis and still wondering why Indiana and UAB gave him the boot. I was really disappointed to see Viwels on the floor Senior Night I was hoping he was out looking for a new home somewhere other than the Metro Detroit Area.

From the start of his Titan career Kyle did not shoot the ball. As a soph Kyle averaged just 1 field goal attempt for every 32 minutes on the court. It was one for every 18 minutes as a junior, 1 per 21 minutes this year. I can't say why and am not much impressed by speculation but I'm not sure it makes much sense to think Coach wouldn't have welcomed Kyle playing more of a role on offense--the thing that has clearly limited his minutes these last three years is not his defense or ball handling; it's that he's not a threat on offense at all, allowing our opponents to ignore him and either double team the ball or go for steals on defense. In his limited shooting, Kyle has shot pretty well: for his career, he's 5-11 from three points, and 29-59 from inside the arc (49.2%). I've never noticed some fundamental flaw in his stroke. (I do note he's never been a good free throw shooter--he's 26-47 career, or 55.3%). Whether he was told not to shoot, just lacked confidence, didn't want to work on his offensive game, or the coaches were simply unable to help him get better, I can't say.

The Good from last night: Four guys in double figures, including Stone and Tank crossing the 20 point mark. Del Cadia playing one of his best games on Senior Night. Another solid shooting performance from Mak Manciel, who cracked double figures for the 7th time in the past 12 games. Tyree Davis got some action. Not sure why he hasn't been playing, but he got eight minutes last night and contributed 2 points, 2 boards, and a block. If he works hard, there is potential there for him to be a contributor on this level.
The Bad: Another loss. The defense struggled, which was to be expected. The attendance. Again.
On to the next one. Two more games left in the regular season, then the HL tourney, and then it gets interesting.

Better job taking notes than I would have done. Yeah I just recalled that piece because I heard him given an opening to what Kyle as a 4 year player had meant to the program... and he qualified it with that. Everything else I'd heard was already on your list. 😁

Whether he was told not to shoot, just lacked confidence, didn't want to work on his offensive game, or the coaches were simply unable to help him get better, I can't say. Kyle was never going to be a significant threat offensively at the D1 level. That said, 1 shot per 33 minutes on the court is insanity. I also do suspect that helped some of those percentages. He basically shot 49% while playing a game of horse because he was usually pretty open when he shot the ball.
