Very jealous. I was hopeful at one time that Davis could land a top 100 recruiting class. Now I just wish he could sign a class the has some decent basketball playing ability and do it prior to July or August. Last year's freshman class was a disaster and I've just about given up hope that he'll ever recruit enough talent to win even one Horizon League championship. Maybe we'll get lucky and the 2020-21 season will just be cancelled...

Each player also had good stats at their previous schools. The Mike Davis era seems to be very reminiscent of the Willie Mccarter era, another coach who was known to place blame on his players whenever the team lost. Poor recruiting, poor coaching and lots of losing.

I'm familiar with Hodge because he plays at a local community college. He's their version of Antoine. 6'4" 180 lbs. I watched him play at Florida Southwestern which has Ralph Bissanthe who transferred there from UIC and which sent Tank Hemphill to GB and now Drake. FSW is the only real competition in this league. The other JUCO programs are not that good.
Against FSW in 2 games, Hodge was 20-47 with 4 assists and 10 TO's. In both games, Hodge's team lost decisively.
In the district JUCO tournament, SCF played Tallahassee CC in the first round and lost 67-59. This is a good test because TCC had DeAndre Gholston and Tariq Silver, both of whom we know from this year's recruiting wars. Hodge's line in that game was 10 points on 3-18 shooting. He did have 6 assists and 5 steals.
I wanted to provide some added perspective on Hodge and his stats. He will give CSU an outside shooting dimension, but it remains to be seen at what level he will perform when he plays in the HL. And how will he react if Gates does not let him take 23 shots per game? So, he's a good recruit, but don't get as caught up in his stats as the tweeter did.
SCF does have Marshall Kearing, a 6'9" freshman from Australia that should be followed for possible development. He has been offered by Florida Gulf Coast.

I can't find the name right now, but the Vikings hired a new video coordinator for the coaching staff. The gentleman is said to have extensive JUCO ties. Gates appears to be making the JUCO path an important part of his recruiting strategy.

Ohio University beat Cleveland State today 101-46. OU set a NCAA Div.1 record with a 40-0 run. Ouch!!! CSU's Coach Gates after the game. QUOTE TO NOTE: "I thought Ohio was well-prepared. They won the first five possessions and we never really recovered as a team emotionally. I thought our guys fought. They had great intentions, but when you have a veteran team that you're playing against, you have to respond because they will go on a run at some point and time. I thought in the second half, we were able to get some free throws and that was a bright spot – 18 free throw attempts in the second half." – Head Coach Dennis Gates.

I watched the game and it looked like a lot of quit to me. Looked like Gates couldn't inspire his team. Might be some issues in the future for this program.

Cleveland State is now 5-0 in the HL after their win over IUPUI. Al Eichelberger played in his second game of the season and played 10 minutes and grabbed five rebounds. Detroit native Spider Johnson, who should be a Titan, had six points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. Hodge led the team scoring in with 17.
The Vikings continue to impressively bounce back after that disaster against Ohio University.
