Cleveland State cutting down the nets when they return from their road game at Oakland: CLEVELAND – The Cleveland State men's basketball program and the CSU Athletic Department would like to invite you to the Wolstein Center this Saturday, Feb. 26 to watch and celebrate the net-cutting ceremony for your 2022 Horizon League Regular Season Champions. The festivities will begin as soon as the team returns from Michigan from their matchup against Oakland on Saturday evening. Doors to the Wolstein Center will open at 9:00 PM ET. Admission to the event is free and there is complimentary parking in the South Garage. Fans will need to enter the building via the Medical Mutual Gate on the Northeast corner of the building (located off Prospect and E. 21st). Dessert and refreshments will be provided for fans in attendance. The clear bag and mask policy will be enforced. To keep everyone safe as we head into postseason play, fans will not have access to the court, student-athletes or coaches. I've never heard of a net cutting ceremony before. Not sure I would do that if I was a coach, but I won't criticize. Celebrate your success if you want. Enough people will give plenty of attention for your failures.

The ceremony must be to celebrate the regular season championship. Imagine if they lose to Oakland and return to Cleveland with a Two game losing streak for their celebration.

It's unusual, but as is the case in any mid-major program, sometimes the unusual can up some interest.

From the CSU message board:
“Gates name is popping up again. He was mentioned in a couple snippets indicating that Gates is one of the 4 candidates For Georgia's next Basketball Coach”

New coach is not a current CSU assistant. This likely explains why Gomillion and Hodge entered the transfer portal.

Cleveland State's president resigns. Provost appointed to succeed him. Interesting thread on Twitter.

Coach Robinson adds to his coaching staff by bringing back former Vikings assistant Jermaine Henderson. Henderson was an assistant coach under Gary Waters for two years. He spent the past five years at Kansas State on Bruce Weber's staff. Columbus, Ohio native. Good hire on paper. www.csuvikings.com/sports/m-baskbl/2022-23/releases/20220425sj9mew

The Vikings got a commitment from JUCO guard Tae Williams. Spent two years at Tennessee Tech, averaging five points per game. At John C. Logan, he averaged 12 and 7. Slasher, not a shooter. Shot 47% from the floor, 24% from three, and 58% from the free throw line.

Good numbers: 14 ppg shooting 53/44/75. 4 assists and 3 rebounds per game. Probably a solid contributor in year two.
