Corey Who? I much prefer Tariq Jones. Not earth shattering, but we need size and he should help. Back up.

Has signed with Oakland. Should be given a shot at some of Brock's minutes. Averaged 7 points and 5 rebounds for 29-2 McLennon squad.

Finally found out what happened to Nate Brooks, a guy the Titans looked at and probably offered at one time, and whom some thought had real potential. He has signed with Panola College, a juco in Carthage, Tx. Panola looks like a solid program. They play in the league with Odessa and some other good programs, and won 26 games last year. I presume Brooks was a non-qualifier, given that he's got size and had some good scouting reports that projected him a D-I player. Maybe someone to keep an eye on, replace Blackshear in two years.

So here's the more or less final summary on the Titans' 2017 recruiting efforts. I had the Titans publicly reported to be recruiting, at some level, 40 players. As always, I can't vouch for the accuracy of all these reports. I would be shocked if there weren't others we at least contacted with bulk mailings, and I have no sense of how seriously we recruited some of these players. With those caveats, here we are:

Eric Williams of New Haven reportedly committed to Duquesne. I didn't see that coming. Good for him. Like Malik Ellison, we apparently scouted him late but didn't offer. We must have some real confidence of getting some good players. Or maybe we did offer and he spurned us. Possibly related, there is so little info about us even making offers, I wonder if BA specifically tells recruits not to tweet or let their AAU/HS coaches etc. tweet. I mean, we're seeing nothing in terms of signings, and it seems odd that, if we've got nothing certain, and having scouted them late in the season, we'd let Ellison and Williams slip through without even an offer. Some info of Williams from last night: Maybe we didn't have room for another guard, maybe he didn't want to play for us or wasn't offered - who knows, but I hate to see good players slip through our fingers

Skylar Nash had surgery to reconstruct his ACL yesterday. I wasn't even aware that he had been injured. Best wishes to the "could have been Titan" for a speedy recovery

Steve Schwanda ( www.alleyesonuhoops.com/2017-Top-Ten.html) has posted his top 10 Michigan Class of '17 as of Sep. 4: 1) Brian Bowen Saginaw Arthur Hill 6'7 2) Xavier Tillman Forest Hills Central 6'5 3) Jaron Faulds Holt 6'84) Jermaine Jackson Detroit Western 5'8 5) Donatus Eke UD Jesuit 6'10 6) Matt Beachler Lowell 6'2 7) Qua Southward Saginaw 5'9 8) Jack Ballantyne Warren De La Salle 6'9 9) Will Weems Detroit Edison 6'7 10) Amauri Hardy Southfield 6'2 Jaron Faulds didn't stay this highly ranked in the Michigan class of 2017, but he did sign with Columbia. I read today that he is leaving Columbia. He averaged 5 points and 3 rebounds while seeing action in 26 games for the Lions. I believe he would make a nice addition to the Titans roster, if only we had a coach in place to make the offer.

Sam, Maybe we will have a coach on Monday following today's visit. BTW, how many members of this forum will be patrolling campus today searching for a glimpse of RP. I will be awaiting reports.
Titans Forever!

Who knows why, but I suppose if wants to be closer to home, and if academics are still a big consideration (after all, he went to Columbia to major in bio-genetics) Detroit might be an attractive option. OTOH, maybe he decided he wanted high major (his numbers weren't great, but these days, who knows?) or he was just tired of playing in front of 1100 people, in which case he'd likely not be interested. Another name that caught my eye was Brent Hibbitts, a 6-8 F from Michigan, immediately eligible as a grad transfer. Hibbits had a bunch of mid-major offers but chose to walk on at UM. Never played much. If he wants PT for his final year... he's from Hudsonville. He was on the Titans' radar in HS, but was never offered. Maybe the latter is because he had no interest. Anyway, we need bodies, and late in the recruiting year, tying up a scholarship for just 1 year seems attractive. Dontel Highsmith, the old Dowagiac star who career at Northern Illinois was plagued by injuries, and who played last year at Cleveland State, is another grad transfer available. If McFolley and Allen decide to transfer and JJJ does, too, if JJ is let go, we won't have a single scholarship guard returning.

I heard a rumor that Gregory Eboigbodin is leaving Illinois. Hey Greg., come back home. We have plenty of scholarships and playing time to offer

I'd like to think he is homesick and wants to return to Detroit (not all the way to Nigeria). Perhaps there's an opening if only we had a staff to welcome him back.

I'm going to trust the coach to assemble the team his way, but I hope that Greg is on the Titan radar. I do think that having Davis as a coach makes us more attractive to transfers than we have been the past two off seasons. Davis has a track record of getting teams to the tournament and players who have done very well individually under his coaching.

I like Greg E as a player - he has a high motor, works hard, does the dirty work down low. He doesn't have an especially polished offensive game but that isn't specifically necessary in the lighter-weight and guard dependent Horizon League. I also get the impression Greg is very coachable and believe so much of his development over the years is due to trusting Coach Donnelly at UDJ and just busting his tail to get better. Alot to like about the kid in my opinion.
