Steve Bell has listed his top 25 for the Class of '17 in Michigan. Comments are mine.
1. Brian Bowen 6-7 F Saginaw Arthur Hill: Consensus top 10 sophomore nationally.
2. Xavier Tillman 6-7 F Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central: Another top 50 player nationally.
3. Anthony Johnson 6-5 SF Detroit Southeastern.
4. Isaiah Livers 6-7 F Kalamazoo Central: Will have high major interest for both baseball and basketball. Probably better at baseball and that may be his future.
5. Matt Beachler 6-3 SG Lowell: Big-time three point shooter.
6. Jermaine Jackson 5-8 PG Macomb Dakota: Probably the Titans top target in Class of '17. Pedigree and small size, which may scare off some high majors, make him a top player the Titans are well-positioned to get.
7. Ikechukwu Donatus Eke 6-10 C Detroit U-D Jesuit: Ooh, baby. Raw, but the high majors are hovering around to see how he progresses. At UD High, has a connection to Ugochukwu Njoku. Would be great if Titans could lock him up early.
8. Dylan Alderson 6-3 PG Davison. Another PG who can score.
9. Jaron Faulds 6-9 PF/C Holt.
10. Ronquavious Southward 6-0 G Saginaw: Averaging 21.5 points per game as a soph.
11. Jack Ballantyne 6-8 F, Warren De La Salle: Detroit has been in touch.
12. Will Weems 6-7 G Detroit Edison.
13. Amauri Hardy 6-1 G Southfield. Out this year with knee injury. Hate to sound so cold, but that's the type of thing that can make a really talented player like Hardy available to a mid-major like UD. On Titans' radar, for sure.
14. James Beck 6-6 F Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills: A Jaleel Hogan type?
15. Jamal Cain 6-6 F Detroit Cornerstone.
16. Greg Eboigdodim 6-8 F Detroit U-D Jesuit: Can you imagine a class of Jackson, Eke, and Eboigdodim? They'd be slappin' high fives at the corner of Livernois and McNichol.
17. Henry Speight 6-3 G Carrollton: Big strong kid who is just better than the Class C or D competition he usually faces. Averaging 25 points and 11 rebounds. The kind of kid you want to evaluate against better competition in AAU ball.
18. Austin McCullough 6-3 G, Portage Central. Good wing.
19. Zack Nieuwkoop 6-7 PF Wayland. Playing second fiddle this year to Lacy James.
20. Drequan Bell 6-3 SG Detroit Allen. Detroit has been looking at Bell.
21. Jason Majerle 6-1 PG Rockford.
22. Christian Rodriguez 5-9 PG Wyoming Godwin Heights. Another guy reportedly on the Titan list.
23. Demetrius Lake 5-10 SG Holland.
24. Sam Cornett 6-3 G Grandville:
25. Greg Elliott 6-1 G Detroit East English Village.
